Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I sort of forgot that the word gas in the US is the term we use petrol, which is put in a car...

We order from the Gas company the oxygen tank and equipment for resucitation of a baby (to have on hand at the birth.)

Is this what comes in your birth supply kit?

Here the oxygen and such equipment is brought by the midwife as part of her equipment.. the birth supply kit is the disposable/one use stuff.. pads and gloves and tape measure and nasal aspirator and a itty bitty hat.

Sorry ladies, but this little exchange just made me laugh out loud. Funny how one little difference in meaning can mean so much.
Lisa, I'm so jealous. I could never sell my husband on homebirth, though he adores my fabulous midwives. I can't wait to hear the story. I'm praying for you dear.

I completely understood what you were saying, Annie. My midwife brings the oxygen to our home when it is "time".

I just got my supply list from my midwife today. I am so excited! With my last homebirth, one of the women who also uses my midwife was not able to birth at home so she sold me her kit cheap. This time I will probably order it from the supply company my midwife has setup.

I know I will say this more and more as the weeks keep adding up, but I can't believe it is almost time to meet our son!

May God bless each of you,
Michelle

Marisa,
I'm jealous too. I remember right before your Agnes was born, one of those fabulous midwives told me she had just seen a friend of mine who was due any day. I wracked my brain and could not think of a single person I knew who was due near me and used those midwives. But Margie kept insisting that it was a good friend because she knew all about me. Finally, Mary Beth chimed in and said "My mom is good friends with millions of people but they're in the computer." Not sure what Margie thought of that. Later, I realized it was you! Let's have 'em together again! I find myself missing my visits with the midwives.
Lisa, don't you just love all the attention turned towards the blessed event as time draws near? Midwives are so wonderful with that!

That is indeed more exciting than a book order.
