Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm wondering if any of you suffer from Fibromyalgia?

Starting in February '07 I have had a myriad of symptoms including numbness in hands, legs and arms (mostly at night but also during the day) and painful pressure points all over my body (someone shook my hand at sign of peace the other day and squeezed harder than normal and I found myself cringing). I was told about a month or two ago that Fibromyalgia is most likely what is going on with me.

There have been many other symptoms and I'm not sure if they all go together or if I have multiple things going on (earaches - TMJ?; chest pain - acid reflux?; urinary pain - interstitial cystitis?; throat pain - ???). Apparently, many of these things can also be associated with Fibromyalgia.

I thought I would throw this out and see if there are others here that can relate to this particular kind of health challenge. I now realize that if I am going to be dealing with this for the longterm, I will need to find some support (for my own sake as well as my husband's and our family's).

I plan on getting some books from the library ... Are there any you recommend? I may have to look into finding a local support group as well.

OH, indeed, I can relate!   Actually, things are under fairly good control for me right now. I was diagnosed with fibro 13 years ago. Especially in the beginning it was kind of hard to figure out how to adjust my routines and expectations of myself around taking care of my needs. I know others on these boards also have fibro; I'm wondering if you are all on some kind of medication to help with restorative sleep and/or pain? Getting my medications worked out was tricky and still changes from time to time. Whatever meds. regimen I am on at a given time will sometimes stop helping enough, so then my dr. and I work out a change. When that happens I can feel pretty bad for several weeks. Right now all that is going well. Still, I need to pay attention to not eating too much junk food (not a bad idea in any event), as I find that the more nutritious my diet, the better I feel. Also, pacing my activities so that I get rest breaks during the day is very important to keeping my muscles from kind of cramping up.

I hope I haven't made things sound dismal. Really, at least for me, learning how to adjust my routine has done so much good.

If you want to talk any more, it's okay to PM, or to continue on the forum.

Peace,
Nancy

There was a thread here on the board's Our Lady of Good Remedy forum about fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.

I have chronic fatigue and checked out the book From Fatigue to Fantistic. This doctore had both chronic fatigue and Fibromyalgia, I believe. His book gives you helpful suggestions on everything from ruling out yeast overgrowth, thyroid issues, supplements, prescriptions, diet, and life changes for both chronic fatigue and Fibro. He even has a list of diagnostic tests to ask for and many resources in the appendix.

He wrote another books called 123 Pain Free. I haven't looked at that one yet.

I hope this helps.
