Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I need a suggestion for a good book/program/method for improving penmanship for my 11 year-old daughter.

She knows how to write in cursive and print. But she needs to improve the neatness. The "problem" is that many of the books are really aimed at younger students who are learning how to write and not older students who are looking to improve their penmanship.

Any suggestions for things that I can look into would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have any personal experience with teaching that age range, but I was around 11 when my parents introduced calligraphy to me. They gave me a calligraphy pen (the kind that ink had to be drawn into) and a simple book to follow.

It helped me improve my cursive writing as well, just because I put much more thought into the act of writing. My mom would also ask me to use calligraphy to make placecards, gift cards, etc. so I had "real" reasons to practice.

Just an idea!

We bought the Spencerian Handwriting books for DS. They are definitely for the child who is adequate with writing, but wants to learn a nice handwriting script.

Great ideas! I'll look into both. I wonder how that Spencerian Handwriting would be for husbands with poor penmanship.
