to be modestly dressed at all times. This AM, I was sitting outside drinking my coffee, (thinking about weeding the beds) I was drawn from my thoughts by 4 Amish men, coming to speak to my dh about our standing timber. Now I was in my pj's, summer ones to boot, with no way to run inside. I am sooooooo embarrassed right now, I can just imagine what they were thinking seeing me sitting there so ill clad, sipping my coffee. Now I was in my side yard and as I told my dh it was 7:00am, they could have called first They just showed up, dh called them last Feburary!! For mercy sake, give me some warning! Dh thinks it very funny as he grew up in a city and thinks my going outside in my jammies very "Californian".....I do live in the country for a reason Lesson for the day....always dress before going outside ANyone else praying for Humility? I can give you some pointers

I guess they learned their lesson not to be intruding at such an hour!
Isn't this why we live in the country? My dh says it is so so that he can walk outside in his boxers with no one to see. I guess we may get a little too comfortable.

Goodness, I feel naked going out to take the trash to the can (and it's not 20ft from my backdoor).
I'm just way too self-concious, lol.
Of course, I don't drink coffee, either, so I guess I wouldn't be caught out there drinking it, anyway...lol

BTDT! My pajamas are sweatpants/shorts and a T shirt for that very reason.
Mare - who also enjoys a cup of morning coffee in the outdoors

ROFL!
This reminds me of a time when I was on the receiving end -- I knocked on my neighbour's door to tell him that his car door was open. He answered the door in his underpants! I was horrified! He later apologised and said that he'd thought it was the postman

See, this is why the old-fashioned house coat or duster needs to come back into fashion:
http://tinyurl.com/2btrxl
Not quite pajamas, not quite a dress, not at all embarrassing to be caught outdoors in--as long as you don't wear it to the grocery store!

Skip the curlers, cold cream, and house slippers, and a house coat should work ok.
I think I'll just get dressed before answering the door or go out...lol

Oh, my goodness! I hate it when that happens. On those days I decide to stay in my jammies just a little longer, a delivery show up, or we get college painter kids at the door...
And when my house looks its worst, my mother or in-laws drop by.
God has a sense of humor.
What I love about dresses (knit ones particularly) is that you can pop them on over your head, run a brush through your hair, slip on clogs or sandals and you're done. I need more of those knit dresses. That and an upstairs bathroom...
Bless your heart - what a funny story. Just think of it this way - they had something interesting to discuss over lunch or dinner.

Oh, boy, I wear my jammies with my morning coffee on the deck also. That is a funny story! I would die if four Amish men popped out of my woods that early to ask a question!

Too funny!
I've often made a mad dash in my p.j.'s to the detached garage to get something, and I've often wondered what the neighbors think!

That's ok -- I was still in my pajamas and unable to find anything to cover up with when the meter men came to replace our water meter. The horrific thing is I had scheduled it a week before and had forgotten . I just figured they had probably seen it all (at least that's what I tell myself). They were mighty fast though. Auhh!
It's not the Californian in you -- let's just blame it on the coffee!
