Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just finished reading your book, Elizabeth.    I recognize some other names in there from this forum. I admire you all and thank you for such an enlightening book.

It's one of my favorites. Reading about Michael holding Stephen when Stephen was ill just brought tears to my eyes. "This morning's lessons are in history, music and life."

Guess what I did yesterday morning? I made myself a nature journal. I went outside and sketched a red petunia from our flower pot. It turned out pretty good.    Then I looked it up in Comstock's book and learned a great deal about my husband's favorite flower.
I took a bloom that had fallen off the plant and cut it open (cross section) and looked at the pieces under a little field microscope. Interesting. I labeled all the parts of my sketched flower and am searching for just the right poem to include on that page.

It was fun. And so very, very unlike anything I would have done had I not been introduced to real learning through Charlotte Mason's philosophy.

Hi Oney!

It's a great book, isn't?    I like to pull it out once a year for rejuvenation and inspiration.

How can you pull it out for rejuvenation and inspiration when it's constantly being borrowed by friends

Seriously, I enjoy re-reading it too, when it's "home."

God bless,
Christine

My ten year old daughter read it and loves it! My copy traveled back and forth to the dance studio where she read between classes.

Yes, I think mine has been permanently "borrowed."

That's not fair!! That happens to me, too. I give the books away that mean the most to me, but then I don't have the book!! I am going to buy new copies and then hold on to them a little tighter.
