Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have an oppportunity tomorrow to visit this in Washington D.C. Two questions for those of you who know the area:

**Is it very difficult to drive there? (I'm coming from VA.)

**Can I leave the van there for the afternoon and hop onto the Metro nearby? I'm considering taking the girls to the Zoo as well.

Thanks so much!

The Shrine site has excellent directions from all points, metro info as well.

Directions to the Shrine

I think there's a fair amount of parking there, but it's been a while.

I would be surprised if you are allowed to leave your van in the actual lot for the Shrine that is across the street while you go to the zoo, but we have visited the Shrine fairly often over the past several years and there is usually unmetered street parking right next to the Shrine across the street from the lot. My husband thinks it's safe enough to leave your car there. There is generally a guard or lot attendant at the entrance of the parking lot who would be able to see anyone trying to break into a car where we park on the street.
