Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

and triffle came in with wonderful results
Ladies I decided in my rethinking my making my lemon cake ( which is oozing with lemony goodness I must say ) takes over night to make because of the thick jello / creamcheese icing plus having to make the the cake I was just to tired as we had our yard sale right before the oblate potluck .
So I was thinking what I could make and triffle came in my head .I made it for Jasmine's dd21 baby shower last summer and it was such a hit then .
I use angel food cake ,canned peaches , fresh strawberries , whipped cream and devon cream custard. No alcohol as many people suffer from addictions
so easy I just made it in the am before the yardsale and let it sit all day soaking up the falvours . I soak the strawberries with some white sugar or liquid honey to draw out the juices and just replace alcohol with the peach syrup and strawberry juice .
I have to say devon cream custard is so much better then a vanilla pudding if you can find it go with the custard .
I had told dh how a nice claer bowl even plastic would be so much prettier . He went out to wal mart but on the way we have a salvation army he swung in there and he picked up one of those huge glass punch bowl sets for 5 bucks !
I filled it layered right to the top .
The desert was the hit of the evning ! and so easy . I did also make a tray of enchiladas too but thats a 20min job no biggy .
There was absolutely no triffle left over and Delores our copordinator wants the recipe so I'm just going to post it later on the blog .
Also dh and I won the last door prize ( there were 4 ) which had been donated by us its so funny as he was joking around what if we win our own prize and yes we did .dh ticket won !Of course we gave it back as we could not accept it the family who won is a single mum on assistance who just had twin boys #7 & #8 so we felt happy for them .
All the oblates received beatiful framed native art appreciation certs. really nice and really beautiful slipper moccasins .
I didn't get any pics but will see if Delores can send me some of hers via e-mail and I'll get them up next week .
So yes the cake went out the window but I am now definately onto the tea party theme already
I will for sure take pics when the cake does beome reality
Much Love , Roxie

I love trifle and just made one yesterday to take to dinner with some new friends. Chocolate cake, whipped cream, amaretto pudding and chopped up toffee bits. The best "dessert advice" I ever received when I started baking cakes was from a friend who said... whenever you have a cake recipe fail, don't toss it in the trash! Toss it in the freezer and make a trifle later. Now, all of my "whoops" end up in the freezer as "trifle fodder" (as my husband calls them).

You have to post the recipe!
