Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Silly question, but perhaps some advice?

All of sudden, we have flies in our house. We don't keep doors open, we don't live on a farm, we don't have animals. I'm killing about 7 in the morning and more at night (I'm not at home this week). They seem to be coming from somewhere inside? It's not a huge swarm or invasion, but golly, it's annoying.

Any hints on how to play detective to find the source?

I would love to know about this as well. We seem to have a bout of flies in our house. Joe's solution is to hang up a fly paper strip ... but it is so ugly. Any ideas?

Jenn -

Are the flies clustering anywhere? I hate to mention this, but one time we had lots of flies clustering in one of the bedrooms. It happened to be the room that had the trap door to the attic. Well, we opened the trap door and found several dead squirrels in the attic.

Peace,
Nancy

I've heard that sometimes plumbing is the issue, that flies can breed in the stagnant water in the traps. I think the remedy is to pour bleach down the tub and sinks and let it set for awhile before rinsing it down, but I'm not sure.

We put fly strips up just at night. I hang them over my kitchen sink and leave the over the counter light on. The light attracts them and they get stuck. There are often a dozen of so stuck wach morning.

I have kids that can't seem to quite close doors, so we usually have a few buzzing around

Haven't found the swarming, but that's what I think, that something hatched inside. I'll check drain pipes and such. That gives me some ideas.

Once when I lived in an apartment, I had a fly problem. An exterminator came to get rid of them. He found them coming from a place near the pipes under the kitchen sink.
