Please share what works for you and why!
I am currently reading _Boundaries With KIds_ by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend.
I am a big fan of the Popcaks, but feel like we are needing more.
Warmly,
Christy

Discipline that lasts a lifetime by Dr. Ray is one of my favorites and one that I keep going back to / refer to often.
I also find myself going back to
Siblings without rivalry
and
How to talk so kids will listen & listen so kids will talk
especially now that they are getting older.

I third Dr. Guarendi! I'd add the following too -
Parenting With Grace by Dr. Gregory Popcak - another great Catholic! Humorous and easy to read like Dr. Ray's.

Books by Elizabeth Crary, Elizabeth Pantley, and Dr. Sears are my favorites.

DH and I just finished 1, 2, 3 Magic(couldn't get DH to read it but my library had a DVD and he watched it). I really recommend the program. It is simple and it really pointed out to me some errors I was making (shocking, I know ).

Another fan of Dr. Ray and the Popcaks here. We recently got a Catholic radio station , so I'm able to listen to their radio shows quite often. I haven't actually read the Popcak's books, but have Discipline that Lasts a Lifetime, and You're a Better Parent Than You Think. They have helped a lot.

THankyou Ladies!
I do have Dr. Ray's book. I'll have to revisit it.
I too like _How To Talk So Kids Will Listen..._ one odd thing that still really stuck with me, is saying just one word-not going on and on. That really works at our house. For ex: "Dd please put your bike away."(Dd continues to lounge on the hammock.) Then,"Bike!"(Up she goes to put it away.) Such an easy tool to exercise without having to nag or yell.

I'm laughing over here, because this is VERY FAMILIAR to me, as my dad always did this.
Bike!
Teeth!
Bath!
Bed!
Table!
Clean up!
....and so on and so forth. It totally worked, and we (my sibs and I) laugh about it to this day!
