Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are going to make our first visit to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in DC this week - to celebrate May, the twins' FHC this weekend and to help us start up our Blessed Mother notebooks.

Please would you share any tips you may have about the best way to visit with kids 10 and under. Any tips about the best way to drive there from Northern VA, parking, what we can realistically do and see etc - please would you post or pm me.

Thanks

We loved the free tour, especially the kids. We drove in and parked at the free lot across the small side street, but I missed a turn getting there so I won't attempt directions.

We just got back from the Basilica of the National Shrine. Absolutely amazing and inspiring place! We are already setting a date to go back for a longer time. I feel like I could spend a whole day there - such peace and beauty. We prayed in many of the chapels and the kids did not get tired of walking and walking - no complaints at all - even the 3 year old whose verdict is "I like that big and beautiful church"

We got lots of photos to start off our Blessed Mother notebooks - but we definitely need to go back.

Chari - let me know if there is anything specific you want to know.
