Any one in State College, PA, or close to there? My dh may be interviewing for a job up there, which would mean a big move for us. We love our home now and would be heartbroken to leave our friends. Honestly, though, we might actually be able to finally get out from our financial difficulties that have plagued us for so long. It is a bit cheaper there and dh would not have to commute 3 hrs a day.
My teenage son is very upset even at the mention of a move, so it will not be easy if this ends up the course of action for our family.
Thanks.

I don't live there, Molly, but Dh has a bachelor friend who lives there, so I can ask specific questions. Dh is from Altoona, and that is the same diocese, Altoona-Johnstown. We visit quite frequently to the area, and go to the Penn State football games. It's very beautiful country, very inexpensive to live (you could get a farm and land further out from State College for a good price). We've eyed it, except that there are no jobs for my dh.
PM with specific questions. I can fill in some comparitive opinions to our diocese to that one.

I'll add that I think it's a very family friendly place. Living in the city of State College is more expensive, though.

Hi Molly,
We are about an hour from State College. There are some families close by that travel to State College for Co-ops.
When is the interview? Let us know how it goes....

That was from my 7 year old, who is very worried at the prospect of leaving her friends!

My dh has not set up an interview yet. It is still in the discussion phase with someone who works there.
Are there many homeschoolers up there? Donna, you mentioned a co-op, can you tell me more? Donna Marie, does your sister homeschool?
I am really nervous about the idea of starting over. I have been in VA all my life! Even just moving from one town to another took us all years to adjust. We would be leaving my parents behind as well, which makes it that much harder.
A lot of things need to happen. First, the job, of course. Then, we would need help selling our house and finding another one. The market is slow down here and we have no equity, so it may be hard to find the right buyer. Things like the benefits package will affect our decision, as well.

My aunt lives in State College. She raised her four wonderful daughters there and really likes the location.
