I won't post this on my blog as it might be considered divisive, but did anyone else notice that this year Catholics totally took over the Homeschool Blog Awards? Last year Lissa and I (am I missing someone?) were lonely Catholics in the crowd. I even remember some of the Protestant hs blogs posting things like "Who are these people???"
Well now they are getting to know lots of "these people" and I think this year's awards are a wonderful testimony to the recent surge in great Catholic hs blogs. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners!

I agree! And congratulations on your award! It was really neat to see all the cool homeschooling blogs and see all the Catholic moms that I "know" be represented! I wonder how many of the blogs were viewed and how many seeds were planted?!?!?
And for those who didn't win or weren't nominated -- there's no way to give awards to all the good examples that you've given me -- but know that this mom visits your blogs quite often and you all have helped me learn to homeschool, be a better Catholic Mom, increase my faith, and keep my sanity and sense of humor about me while doing it.
Thank you!

Yes, I noticed this too and was cheering! It was so great, and you just never know what "seeds were planted."

I was thinking, "who are these people?" about the few non-Catholics who won!
Congratulations everyone! You certainly add a little "Mother Culture" to my days. Thanks!

That's funny, Nicole
So, where does one see the winners?
I am not much of a blog reader.....because it sucks me in and I cannot get back out easily
I WANT to be......but I try really hard to use self-control.
Of course, I have read Danielle's over the years
Lisa's right!
anyway............I would like to see the winners, can you point me in the right direction, please?

Chari,
Here's a link:
Homeschool awards
And I hear you about being sucked in -- I have to use a timer for my self-control!! I also know that the boys will never let me sit at the computer that long!! So I just rotate who I'm reading in the morning with my coffee!

Danielle, how lovely to see you here! I was just saying the same thing to Elizabeth--I was so proud and excited about the great showing our friends made. Of course I am especially proud of my bestest pal Alice, three-time winner and runner-up in two races (including joining Elizabeth in beating me in the "Best HS Mom" category, LOL LOL LOL)! Brava! It's a pleasure to lose to such gifted writers. (Including Supermom Dawn, too!)
Theresa, you ran me quite the close race in Unschooling/Eclectic! Well done!!
Kudos to all, the winners, the nominees, and the many other fine bloggers among us. What an amazing group of women!

Great job, ladies!! Know that you are all very much loved and appreciated.
Melissa
P.S. Does anyone else think that this is indicitive of Catholics beginning to homeschool in larger numbers?

I had such a difficult time in choosing between blogs. Sometimes I just voted for the one that came first (sorry ). Anyway, congratulations to all. It was exciting to watch.

Congratulations to you too, Danielle, and thank you so much! Thank you, everyone, for your loving support and good wishes.
It was exciting to see so many Catholic blogs nominated, and I was honored to be considered! As I said at my blog, I congratulate each and every one of us who home educates our children - it's a HUGE challenge *and* blessing, and we should all be proud of one another!

I, myself, was *THRILLED* to see all of the wonderful Catholic blogs that won in their categories. And what an exciting race! This was like the Oscars for me, I tell you! It was the first year that I voted (how fun...a Canadian voting in an American election )and it was VERY difficult to choose only ONE blog per category. I made sure to spread the wealth by voting for everyone at least once. I am truly excited to see what will come of the increased exposure to Catholic mom blogs over the homeschool blogoshere.
A wholehearted THANK-YOU to all the nominees and winners and ALL homeschool bloggers. You enrich our lives so tremendously with your insights, reflections, crafts, ideas, anecdotes and encouragement. Thank you for inviting us daily into your own domestic churches, for in so doing you are blessing countless lives outside of your walls. In my book, you are ALL winners indeed. I am so blessed to "know" you and your wonderful families, and to be a Catholic homeschooler in the BLOG age!
And I especially want to thank YOU, Danielle. In addition to giving us a daily dose of humour and inspiration on your wonderful blog, it was a link on your sidebar that led me here to these forums. I can't thank-you enough!!!

I completely agree! I was thrilled to see and VOTE FOR all of my favorites. I have so many "friends I don't know" - what an amazing thing technology is. My daily round of blog reads is such a blessing to me. God bless you all, ladies.
Gratefully,
Lynn
