Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have a question. Once your girls have worn their Easter dresses and white shoes to Mass, do you go back to the winter dresses and shoes until the weather warms up, following the Memorial Day rule, or do you stick with Easter clothes from Vigil/Easter Sunday till Labor Day?

Just so you know, I used to live in So CA where this just wasn't an issue because it was always hot!

once they wear their Easter dresses.. I let them decide depending on the weather and how much they want to wear a particular dress.. today I had two in spring/summer dresses and one in a winter dress but all in their white sandals

We live in MN. We no longer wear winter/Xmas colors but stick with other colors and sweaters over them. DD has some darker purple and blue dresses that she will still wear. (They work well for spring and fall.) We just pair them with white tights and white/navy shoes.

I still wear black pants to Mass and darker color dresses- just not red and black together.

DD wore a spring dress today, but not her white shoes. I just couldn't bring myself to let her wear the white shoes again--the weather was so icky today. I don't know if I'd let her wear them again till it warms up considerably!

When I lived in TX, we didn't have this problem either!

And here I was, with my first girl, struggling over whether I could let her wear white shoes on Easter when it was before Memorial Day! (I did ) But today, she was back to her navy blue Mary Janes.

I have to admit, I'm a purist when it comes to this. (Truth be told, in my humble opinon -- which doesn't count for much!-- I think white shoes should only be worn by girls under the age of 12, brides, and those in uniform. But I'm okay with white sandles )

We just wear whatever seems to look best with whatever dress, frankly. I don't even buy white dress shoes most years, and I don't generally encourage sandal wearing to Mass...mostly because their sandals get worn EVERYWHERE during the summer and get very nasty looking and worn VERY quickly.

But that's just me

Well...I guess the good news is that whatever I do from week to week until the weather is warm, I'll be in good company!

I guess I won't worry about it anymore.

Thanks everyone.
