Hi, I'm moving to Hattiesburg, MS and am looking for anyone who lives there or near there or has any information about there. I have a 4th grader and 6th grader that I homeschool and a 9th grader who just this year went to a Catholic high school. She loves it and really wants to continue her schooling outside of the home (as does my husband). Does anyone know anything about specific high schools in Hattiesburg?

Also, I'm interested in the real estate situation since I know some homes were damaged by Hurricane Katrina. I want a good house in a safe neighborhood with access to a good high school. We are getting some leads on a good real estate agent, of course.

From what I saw on HSLDA, MS seems like a fairly easy state to homeschool in with just a letter to the state each year. Is that true? How about support groups? The Christian Home Educators of Hattiesburg seem to require a statement of faith which probably leaves us out. Is there a Catholic group or non-denominational one?

I'm anxious to gather as much information as possible ASAP as we are planning a trip this weekend (April 21-22).

Hey Ladies,
Thanks for the responses. Being a newbie, I needed some kind of response.

I checked out the link from Jen and got some good info and by calling the local church, I got the names of 2 Catholic homeschoolers in Hattiesburg. I plan to contact them and ask for info about the group as well as the high schools.
