Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I like the idea of these suits because they provide great sun protection and yet are also modest. But I am somewhat confused about this product.

Are rash guard and rush guard the same thing?
Are these suits meant to be worn in the water as is or over a regular bathing suit?
Do companies like SwimModest use sun protective material? I couldn't tell from the website.

I saw some boys "rush guard" suits at Target with SPF 45. Would the quality be as good as more expensive suits from places like Land's End?

This year I have to buy more protective suits for the kids. Even though we use sunscreen, dd still has a tan line from last summer on her back!

Melinda:

I have only heard them called rash guards - worn under wet suits it guards against a chafing rash. My children have been wearing them for a few years and they provide great sun protection & reduce the time it takes me to slather on the sunscreen. I usually buy new ones each season -- we use them a lot and they end up threadbare by the end of the summer. I have bought them from old navy, target, landsend, tuga website, and c-wear. I did not notice any major differences in product performance (ie cheaper v. pricer ones)

That makes sense. Are your kids wearing a swim suits under them? Probably not the boys, but are the girls? I am woefully ignorant on this topic- can you tell?
