Okay, I have a tough one! 
How do you deal with the issue of modesty when it comes to work-out clothes and exercise videos?
I have a new workout and the woman is wearing, of course, just a sports bra type of top and shorts. My 7 yr dd was very upset by this. She asked if the workout was only for women and if that made it okay. Even after I said it was, she just kept saying how immodest this lady was. 
I have another tape that has even less dressed women as well as a man who leads the workout. I have to make sure the kids aren't in the room for that!
Of course, my workout clothes cover everything, wouldn't want to scare anyone!

Modesty is relative. What I wear to go swimming in I wouldn't wear to church. I wear very short shorts when I run, but wouldn't dream of wearing those shorts in other circumstances. When I was younger I used to run in just a sports bra but I've wised up since then besides realizing that it's just plain asking for catcalls or worse trouble.
So I wear a t-shirt or loose tanktop over it now.
It's tough to explain to kids but the best I can think of is to put it in a situational setting. Unfortunately there are still plenty of inappropriate clothing in the workout world, but generally I don't think spandex and a sports bra are anything to be too concerned about.
Consider if she wanted to do ballet someday... she'd have to wear very tight clothing for that.

I've had this same struggle. The only modest exercise program that I've been able to find is Walk Away the Pounds by Leslie Sansone. She and the other two ladies are dressed in a top and exercise pants.
This is not a very strenuous workout. It was just what I needed, though, during a recovery from an illness.
I have been so frustrated in my search for a program with a modestly dressed instructor. I don't want these women to become the physical ideal for my girls. I also don't want my boys to have the image of these women in their minds.
I'm sorry that I don't have something to offer other than sympathy.

I guess I didn't consider the video workout world. I've not used workout videos or even been to a gym much so my kids aren't exposed to those things. I can see why it would be disconcerting watching an 80 pound, scantily clad woman commenting on how great her buns are looking...

One thing to remember...certified aerobics instructors are required to wear form-fitting clothing. They can't choose to wear looser clothing, because their certification process requires them to agree to wear clothing that fits closely enough that their participants/studentts can really see all of the movements they're supposed to do.
I had never thought about this before one of my friends became a certified aerobics instructor. She was very upset about the clothing requirement. She got around it by wearing short-sleeved T-shirts and capri-length exercise pants, not skimpy tanks and tiny shorts.
Of course, this doesn't excuse instructors who wear less than they should!

I used those when my kids were younger......they did not pay any attention to them.
Then, later when they got older, they were all, girls and boys, scandalized by the lack of clothing.....and I realized I could not really justify putting it before their eyes. They could not stop making comments and kept their eyes averted......it was obviously a stress to their little hearts.........I just had to stop using them...........
reading aloud to them from a treadmill seems to be a lot less scandalous to them....and their preference! 
And, prob better for me......now, to remember to actually use the thing
