Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have a friend that had a baby just a few days after she turned 47 - very healthy pregnancy/labor/delivery and mom and baby afterwards.

I remember reading that the oldest woman to naturally conceive and deliver a baby was 57!

Didn't Marilyn Shannon, author of "Fertility, Cycles and Nutrition", have her youngest at age 48 after several unfertile years?

I think I remember my mother saying her aunt had a baby at 49.

Erin, thank you for giving me hope. These past years of infertility have been extremely difficult.

And, I forgot to mention that this was also after 8-9 years of infertility too.

I was 45 and a half. Or big 45 as we say in our family (after you get past the half way mark).

I have two close friends who have had babies at 48. Both healthy and reasonable deliveries.

Recovery from the birth was the best of the four for me and the labour was the second easiest. I did take homeopathic supplements to help an IBS thing I get afterwards, which is worse than labour by far. I have to assume they worked because I had none that time.

Not me, but my friend had her first at 45 and her second at 47. She had been on clomid without success and then conceived both of these children without drug assistance.

The story goes that my MIL was born when her mother was 48, but now she is saying it was 45. I'm not sure if my MIL's memory is getting worse or better. Either way I am very thankful - without their being open to life at that late age I wouldn't have my dh!

My grandmother married my grandfather when she was 48 and he was 60, and lo and behold, along came my dad. So, it can happen for sure!

I never replied to thank you all for the encouraging words! When I asked the question, I had just realized that I was pregnant and at 46 I was thinking that I had to be the only woman in the world pregnant at such an old age!    I'm sure that feeling comes from the astonishment I met with when I announced I was pregnant at 43. My doctor just couldn't believe it.
I have my first appointment for this pregnancy tomorrow and I'm a bit nervous about how I'm going to deal with my doctor's comments. I'm a bit emotional lately and I tend to overreact to things.
I keep her as my doctor because, despite our difference in beliefs regarding birth control, she has become a friend. She has brought us through 3 very dangerous births and I trust her because of that.
But ... I need a few prayers that I have courage to speak the truth in love when she asks, once again, "why on earth are you having ANOTHER baby?".

Praying for you, Becky!

For what it's worth, I would respond, "And why on Earth are you asking me this question once again?"

Becky,

I am praying for you!

I have many friends in their forties who are open to life and would be so joyful to have a pregnancy at your age!    I know I would be over the top with giddiness if I were blessed with another baby.

Congratulations! Let us know how it goes with your doctor appointment!

Congratulations Becky!

When someone asks me why I had another baby I told em, "Because when something works for me I stick with it!"

That left them laughing!
