Have you given away the baby clothes? If so, when?
I recently gave birth to baby #8. A beautiful little girl. She just started to outgrow the very smallest newborn clothes. Now I have to figure out what to do with the outgrown clothes. Plus I have lots of little boy baby clothes.
I'm 45 and ecological breastfeeding, so more pregnancies aren't very likely. But...I'm tempted to just stick the baby clothes back into storage in the basement.
When do you part with the baby clothes???

CONGRATS!!! I do give baby clothes away. I keep my most favorite items, and pass on the rest. I recently gave away every stitch of 18ms and under boy clothes to someone who really needed them, so if this baby is a boy - hmm? Anyway, we get so many hand-me-downs and gifts from grandma's - we haven't had a naked baby yet!

It's ok to give yourself more time.. stick them in storage.. if you find someone who needs them, you can get them out.. in other words you can give them away at any time.. you don't have to rush yourself.
The longest spacing between the birth of one child and getting pregnant for me with ecological breastfeeding.. is 9 months without using NFP. I turn 40 next year so it's not that I'm all that young anymore either
But even with that.. it's only when baby gets to be around a year that I really start feeling ready to part with those things.. and then of course I'm pregnant and hold onto things until the next baby is born etc.
Right now I can't even think about needing to go through baby things and my youngest is over a year and I'm not pregnant.. because I had a miscarriage and should be getting those things ready for a new baby.. not wondering about getting rid of them And that's ok.. I don't have to torture myself just to take them somewhere to drop off.. I'll get around to it eventually.

I thought that getting rid of baby clothes was the surest way to guarantee another pregnancy

I'd hang on to them for a while. But you could give some of them to Goodwill and maybe even sell some on eBay. Baby clothes sell well on eBay in bigger lots!

I'm 44 and my youngest will be 4 in January. I still have the baby clothes (and maternity clothes) in storage. I'm just not quite ready to go through them all and give them away. Maybe in another year or two.

If you have the space for storage, it's awfully nice to hold on to those precious baby things for future grandchildren! There are soooo many things I wish I'd kept for the grandbabies! Ah well, I'm grateful for the few things we did keep and are now sharing with a new generation of little ones! It's so nice to see a grandchild snuggled in a blanket or outfit their mama or papa, or an aunt or uncle, once used!
Rose Gardens, enjoy that precious baby girl!
Later-in-life babymoons seem to have a special sweetness and gentleness that helps one savour each and every moment!

Seriously? Lisa that's amazing --all 10 of mine have been born naked!
My "baby" is almost 3 --I'm 42. All the baby clothes are still in bins in the basement.

This is my thinking. I am hoping to pass a lot of it on!

Thanks ladies. I didn't really want to get rid of them, but I thought I was just being selfish or silly. I'm also feeling a bit overwhelmed by too much "stuff". I'd feel better shoving the outgrown clothes that are still in good condition back in the bag, then storing them out of sight. I stored them previously when I was 42 thinking we probably wouldn't use them again, but we did.
I can't get rid of the maternity clothes yet or even store them yet--otherwise I'd be the naked one!

Congratulations!
We got rid of most of our baby stuff when #4 was 3. I had turned 42 and thought we were probably done (we've had 4 miscarriages so I also thought my ability to carry a baby was pretty slim.) Well, I had #5 when I turned 43! My friends were so kind, they knew I had gotten rid of all the baby stuff so they gave me a baby shower!

I tend to keep the baby clothes too, but, at some point, my sisters and I realized we were passing around clothes that were over 30 years old and some NOT even fit for the poor. Our father is the oldest of eight and his sisters began the sharing way back!!!
We finally came to a point of "STUFF" where it was necessary to at least weed through some of the stuff!
SO I can definitely relate to RoseGardens when she said,
"I'm also feeling a bit overwhelmed by too much "stuff"."
May God bless you all for your openness to life! Thank you ladies for blessing me! I am blessed to read your posts for it is so refreshing to read about others who know what a blessing children are!
I am 47 now and mom to 11 living and 3 in heaven and one grandson and a grandbaby due in May. Our youngest is one and we don't know if the Good Lord will bless us again with another beautiful gift! I had decided I was probably too old, but now I keep hearing about others who have conceived at 48. So whether I hold on to
the clothes for me or possibly a grandchild, I think I'll continue to save my favorites!

Wow, so nice to hear about babies in the 40's.
I have given all the baby stuff away just knowing the Lord will provide if we have another. I am 46 and hoping for another--"thy will be done." My youngest will soon be 7. I also have found people who needed our stuff so passing it on and knowing it was being used was so heartwarming. The nursing clothes went first, followed by maternity clothes, then the crib and clothes and there is not much left. I am keeping the sling-I just can't part with it.
Babies don't need much stuff--just a warm mom to snuggle up with

I think the parting was hard when it was the thought of just boxing it up and putting and hoping someone else would treasure these items. I just couldn't do it - and am always hoping for another but coming to accept that at almost 50 and the youngest being 7 already (where did the time go), it is not likely to happen. I am sometimes whistful, but God is giving the grace - though I still hold in my heart a secret hope that he'll just send one more (and if He does, I'm sure I'll be still saying "just one more" until the grandchildren start coming).
God seems to have provided the need in my face when I needed to part with things. So the crib went when a pro-life worker with a mother of twins saved from abortion asked if I knew anyone who had an extra crib. We'd had a crib for 4 children by then, but never used it (they always slept in our bed) so we parted with it gladly and with warmth in our heart. Just last year a young mother knocked on our door looking for work - obviously pregnant and trying to make ends meet before the baby arrived. We couldn't hire anyone to clean for us - but I let her pick through whatever baby things we had. Knowing that they would be used and loved by someone who really needed them made the giving easy.
I do still have some baby clothes I hope to pass on to my children when they have children - one being an outfit my dh wore as a baby.
Janet
