Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Just an observation.
An unexpected, which is not really the right word, priveledge/challenge of getting to be a woman over 40 seems to be caring for our older family members. I cared for my dear MIL for a few years here and was richly blessed. Those blessings did translate as difficult days sometimes but I would not have had it any other way.
Presently my father is living nearby in a great assisted living facility. Unfortunately he has "elopement" issues (translation:he is wandering off campus across the 4 lane highway). He needs to be moved and the 2 facitlities with secure settings are 30-40 minutes away. Because he cycles through dememtia and non-dementia phases the "non" phases will be difficult for him. We will have more challenges over the next months as we move him and get used to a new place.
The support of our faith in this is so important to me. I know that handling this graciously and with kindness-to my siblings, children and husband has value and that calms me.
The skills I learned as a younger woman, balancing my role of mother/wife/confidant, sister and friend all come into play here. These skills thankfully came over time with our growing family.
