I will be turning 40 on Good Friday and I am certainly not celebrating it on the day of the Lord's Crucifixion.
But I wanted to do something. All during my thirties I was hoping for a big 40th - well making an occasion of it anyway, but I may have to offer this one up.
The thirties came and went all so quickly with many births and deaths so I feel very blessed to make it this far. I think milestones like these are worth enjoying and celebrating.
I was hoping a few of you ladies could tell me what you would do?
God bless to you all

Chemai,
Happy 40th
What is to stop you celebrating during the Eastertide. A time of celebration. 40th's often aren't on THE day anyway. Everyone has Easter Monday off anyway so with the long weekend it would be totally do able on the Monday.
Xavier will be turning 10 on Wednesday of Holy Week and his 'big'party will be on Easter Monday.

Oh, happy, happy, birthday in advance! There was another thread about a birthday falling on Good Friday. I would move the celebration to Easter Monday and have a big bash, with all the Easter Alleluias, candy, breads, cakes and trimmings!

Thank you,
Yes, I was thinking of Easter Monday, maybe a picnic or BBQ or something. With it being a public holiday over here it would be the perfect day with many Alleluias!!
I would love to have a "big bash". It's hard when no ones else is excited except me (and my Mum of course).
Thanks Erin and Jenny for the Congratulatins in advance. It's nice to see others are keen for big birthdays celebrations - not just me.
I will keep my thinking cap on for ideas. I don't have much time though.
God Bless

Go for it! I just did, we held the party on a Sunday, because my b-day was the day after Ash Wednesday. I think it was wonderful fun, I opted for a no gift party, rather a celebration of life party, and I am very glad I had the party!
Big Congrats in advance, the baords will be closed on your birthday, but know I will offer a prayer for you

Good Friday!! Your big day will be memorable.
Grace found this happening to her last year, this year her birthday is on Palm Sunday.
Well, they say 'life begins at Forty' and one of Easter Sunday's, themes is 'the beginning of life' - I think it would be a lovely start to this new decade by sharing your birthday celebration with this feast. (Monday is also a good day as the 40days of feasting and celebrating has only just begun.)
How I'd love to be there celebrating with you!

Thank you so much for all your beautiful heartfelt words.
They are all so very comforting.
(Thank you Molly and Anne).
Yes Anne, me too!
They do say that life begins at 40, I hope so. I'll let you know in a month or so if that is true. After celebrating for 40 days I'll probably feel closer to fifty. We'll start with the Monday for all the worldly celebrating and the other 39 for the spirtual. Either way I can't wait. Lent is the best time to feel that sense of anticipation.
We have decide what we are going to do. We are going to celebrate on the Monday, by going to visit my Mother in the morning for a beach brunch. An old friend has invited us to her new house for a day or two of fun and celebrating. We have known each other since we were sixteen and she loves to spoil me. So I have agreed to let her. In the afternoon we will venture to her house.
How
So from having no idea to something that will be very special, I feel very blessed.
Thank you all again.

Now I'm 40 I can say I am now young enough to visit this part of the forum (legitimately) - instead of lerking around waiting, preparing for my 40th.
It came and went so very quickly, which life does in general.
I had a very good birthday, celebrating on Easter Sunday with my family (after all my self pitying) - it was lots of fun.
God Bless

I'm so glad you had a wonderful birthday. Happy Birthday, welcome to the 40s club. I'm enjoying, although I'm not used to being in that 40 range. I think it will take me a year or so.

I hear you Jenn, but don't you kind of feel grown up saying I'm 40!! My dc keep asking me why I'm bragging about my age, I answer "look, don't mess with me I have had 6 kids and I have made it 40 yrs." I think it is cool

I do feel kinda grown up now. Although I do have a younger husband which always has made me feel younger.
I think it will take me a year or so as well maybe even longer. But I do imagine I'm going to like it.
