One meaning of consecration to Mary is giving your heart over to her so that she may form Jesus in you. Studying Mary's virtues and praying with her daily so that she may lead you close to Jesus. The idea can be a little frightening -- giving yourself over to her completely-- but she is a gentle Mother who knows us very well. She leads us down the right path. She helps us to find Jesus in places we might not have looked ourselves.
If you are interested in spending some extra time with Our Lady this summer by making/renewing your consecration to her, you may join us here.
I'll try to post the link to the daily prayers for Consecration. I found it very helpful to subscribe to this thread. A daily email reminder and link to the prayers helped me to stay on track for the 33 days. You may subscribe to the thread by clicking the bottom left button. You may also subscribe by adding a comment or question to this thread and checking the "email notify me of replies." button. I'll post the link to each of the days of consecration to this thread and change the title each day. If you notice that I haven't updated the thread, I welcome help.  Post the link so that I remember to keep saying the prayers.

There are many prayers honoring the Holy Spirit said during the preparation for Consecration. If this type of Marian spirituality is appealing to you, you might want to consider saying these prayers during a time you wish to honor the Holy Spirit. Keep these prayers in mind when you want to thank God for your children, marvel at the life within you, cope with losing a new life. They may also be a good choice for praying for your children before they make their Confirmation. 33 days spent praying for a child prior to his Confirmation sounds like a good investment of time.

I think I'm too late to start? We are in the 14th today...Helen, can you remind me of the next optimal Marian date for the consecration..8 Dec?

The Age of Mary site has a list of Marian feasts to celebrate by renewing your consecration. They give the dates to begin the prayers.
since you're only one day late, you could add another day after August 15th.

I've thought about it, it might be better for me to chose a later date, we have a big play we are a part of from the 11th to the 14th, I know that we would have serious troubles from early August onwards..had sort of forgotten about that, but we will chose a suitable date from the link you have provided.

This is exactly what I need! I am long overdue for a renewal! I wish I'd seen it earlier this week. Since I am several days behind you all I guess I should wait until July 20th and end on Aug. 22. The website you gave lists the 22nd as the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary but I've known it as Queenship of Mary.
I'm looking forward to using Anne's format since I missed it last year.

That's a great idea Janette. The feast of the Queenship is probably transferred to Saturday the 21st or Monday the 23rd. I checked at the Bishop's site and Sunday the 22nd of August is the 21st Sunday in Ordinary TIme. Since receiving Communion is part of finishing the Consecration, i would guess that it is fine to use the 22nd with Mass. The Franciscans of the Immaculate have a big event in honor of the QUeenship of Mary each year in Griswold CT. This year they are honoring Our Lady's Queenship on Saturday the 21st. There might be something special (a homily at least) at AirMaria.Com that might add a special touch to the ending to your renewal of consecration.
