Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am reading "The Trees Kneel at Christmas" to the kids (Maude Harte Lovelace), and in the story the little girl wears blue earrings- because that is the color of Mary, and it is always good to have a bit of blue upon you somewhere.

Isn't that a wonderful idea? Keeping "a bit of blue" on or around you to keep the Blessed Virgin in mind.

I am going to think about how I can incorporate some blue into strategic places around my home to remind me of her. And maybe shop for a special pair of blue earrings to wear on particularly trying days... (Not that we have any of those here, of course )

ETA: I just remembered I have a favorite cobalt blue, oversized tea mug. I use it every day. Now every time I see it I will think of the Blessed Mother!

Melinda,

Is that not the best book!?!?!?!

My girls absolutely loved it and commented on the same thing.

My girls are always thinking of blueberries and Mary!

Melinda,
We have really enjoyed a family tradition of wearing blue on Saturdays, Our Lady's day. It's usually simple, really, but it's still a way of showing our devotion to Our Lady on Saturday.

I'm certain that Kimberlee at Pondered In My Heart also does this as I've seen the most heartwarming posts of her girls in blue on Saturday.

Like you, I have added a touch of blue in every room! I love tucking a tiny blue handkerchief (vintage, found at the flea market) in a drawer with a corner peeking out or just simply draped over the side of a basket in a room. Vintage blue handkerchiefs are one of the things I watch for and collect. A bit of blue is a lovely visual reminder of Our Lady!

What a sweet idea, I love this!
I never wear earrings anymore...now I have a reason to hunt down some blue ones.

not mary or blue, but I think of Christ the King every time I see the color of royalty - purple. It helps that purple is my favorite color.

I must get a hold of this book.

Me too!

We usually write our New Year's resolutions on blue paper cut into the shape of an "M." It is a symbol of handing them over to the Blessed Mother so that she may help us to attain the goal. They are now hung up in different parts of the house for each person to remember their new resolutions. I have blue for Mary in some rooms now!
