I think this has been mentioned on a thread before, but I can't find it (after about 45 minutes of searching). SO! For those of you who sew, where do you purchase your fabric? I am still rather new at this, but am already a little bored with what JoAnn's offers. Perhaps it was more the fact that the kids were with me while I was looking, but...
I am mainly looking for sweet little cotton prints for clothing for my daughter. I would shop online if I knew where to look. Any suggestions?

I get fabric at G Street Fabric, but that's local to me in the Washington, DC area. I don't know where you're located.

I like fabric.com and zoodads.com and wazoodle.com
I don't like Joann's selection either.

Joann's rarely has much in the knits, esp. prints. Fabric. com has some nice prints right now that are from the ChezAmi line of clothing, if you are familiar with them.
Sewbaby also has great fabrics. There are also various co-ops (just search "fabric" on yahoo and I'm sure several will come up)

I know that this is an older thread, but I like Aunt Grace's fabrics...they are very vintagey-quilt type materials, but you can find some nice things.
Also, Hancocks.com (or hancockfabrics.com (something like that) has some beautiful fabrics (that's where I get mine, I don't care for JoAnns myself). If you can get onto their email list, you can get emails with their online sales and specials, as well as their in store circulars mailed to you.
I've got a number of fabric places saved...not CHEAP fabric, but if you are looking for something in particular...
Let me know (just in this post) if you want me to go ahead and post. I know one is "Fabricattic.com" or something like that...

Hmmm. I would THINK so...
Then again, I've never tried (since I live in the US)...but I would think that they would.
Sorry I can't be of more help....

One of the reasons I'm pro Jo-ann's -- other than that they carry many of the yarns I use, etc -- they also will give homeschoolers a 10% discount; Michael's doesn't and Hobby Lobby seems it's not doing so well (and doesn't do homeschoolers anyway) ....
Just my $.02 ...

Hancock's here does, too. The PEAH (Parents Educating At Home) "group"---they even have it on their bags!!! The Hancock's bags, that is.
I'm not sure what the percentage is, but its probably the same.
I've not been able to get JoAnns to send me my frequent shopper card, either, and I've tried three-four times. Its really annoying, frankly, to try over and over again, over a period of over a year...

Jennifer -- just go in and ask -- or you can check on the their web-site; when I was in SC, and the nearest Jo-ann's was in Georgia (!), I mail-ordered stuff and had no problem using my hs'er card online.
Rachel,
Hancock's I don't think will do it themselves, you have to belong to the PEAH coop and go thru them, I believe. Hancock's aren't as prevalent here as Jo-ann's....

I like all of 'em!
Hancock's Jo-Ann's, Rag Shop, Hobby Lobby (but we don't have any of those here), A.C. Moore, Michael's etc. and all the little independent shops and the big outlets.
And then there are all the online places...oh my I'm like a kid in a candy shop (or rather like me in a candy shop 'cause I like candy too! )
Anyway, if it's got fabric, crafts, yarn, etc. I will check it out. No one place has all I want yet I have found things I want in all of them. My local Jo-Ann's doesn't always have the BEST fabric selection but I have found some really good stuff there, same for Hancock's and all the others (even Wal-Mart). Like I said, I like all of 'em!
But my local Hancock's is closing. Actually A LOT of Hancock's are closing nationwide. . . and apparently some Jo-Ann's too.
On a happy note, because Hancock's is closing all their patterns including Kwik Sew (which never go on sale!) are 60% off. Not a great deal for the regular patterns because I can always get Simplicity, McCall's, Butterick etc. for $1.99 or less at the Jo-Ann sales, but for Kwik Sew and others it is a GREAT deal. So I snatched a few up...and I'm thinking about going back for more. But how many patterns does a girl need really?

Apparently, a LOT! I seem to colllect them. I used to read them at night in bed and dream about how I'd sew them later!

Oh my gosh! You do that too?!?!
Seriously I used to have tons more patterns but went through and culled a great many of them. But it seems I'm starting to build team back up again.

I've been very pleased with fabric I've purchased online from:
Superbuzzy
Reprodepot Fabrics
Sew Mama Sew
I've found great fabric (probably too much, DH would say) over the internet!

Angela

So, do you have to "show" them something for this? Or just say "I'm homeschooling" ?
ETA: I just went back and saw that you need a "card". Is this a Joann card taht you apply for? or do you have a 'card' in CO for homeschooling?
