Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Jennifer over at As Cozy as Spring had a mention of this cool embroidery project from Martha Stewart: state birds (this link will give you the basic embroidery directions). Here's a link to the pdf of the birds. These line drawings are so clear you could even use the pdf as a coloring book for state birds!

Pretty cool, huh? Thanks Jennifer!

Thanks for the links! I hope that a project like this will help with the "can't wait for spring" fever that's going around the house.

God bless,
Christine

Wow, those are great pictures! How would you transfer that to your material? Is that even what you call it? LOL

Mary, I can't stop thinking about these bird patterns. Pillows, a quilt... Must make something!

Theresa, you could do it a couple of ways -- print out on your computer and then trace onto the fabric (using carbon paper you can get at the fabric store)
or
you could cut a piece of material to fit your printer, iron it to a piece of baking parchment, and then feed this manually into your printer -- sounds crazy, but it works! Then you just peel off the parchment and stitch.

I just really liked the simple lines but detailed pictures she had in the set -- and very cool that it's all the birds so you could do a whole unit on this!
