All right all you crafties! I am trying to think of a gift for Daddy that Mommy and her 3 yo son can make together. Nothing that would take a long time, but not too cheesy. Perhaps something practical or wearable? Something to put in his office? Dh isn't a knick-knack guy.
Any ideas?

Does your husband have a place to put his wallet, change, cell phone, etc. at the end of the day? If not, you might consider making one.
I looked and looked for a valet that would suit my husband. The best fit was much too much money.
I ended up getting a tray from the dollar store, lining the bottom with felt, covering the large lid from a container with felt (all over) and seating it top-side down in the tray (for change), and used a plastic cable tie to keep the cord for his charger in place (attached it to one of the handle sides of the tray.
I thought it was very cheesy and cheap, but my husband loved and still loves it, and it is very useful to him.

How about a picture frame with some foam cut-outs glued around the edge and a photo of your son in it?

How about a placemat? Your DS can draw the pictures, glue them onto cardstock and then you can laminate them.
A calendar for the next year? DS can pick the pictures, and glue them in place while you add on the month printout (excel and word are good for this).
A shrine for his office? DS can make a little grotto with a Holy Card in it... DS decorates the grotto. My 2 yo DD made one the other day.

Oh, Janette, I so LOVE Cheryl's shirts! Thank you for the reminder of that.
In addition to all these great ideas, have a thought for a card for your husband, Jenn--have your little guy say simple prayers for Daddy, adding stickers to represent each each one. A spiritual bouquet from a loving three year old would be a precious thing.

My sister was trying to remember who had the hands on the shirt idea, so thanks for the link and reminder. It's such a great idea, Cheryl.
Spiritual bouquet...great idea.
One of the little things we're going to do is take a picture from the beach vacation and put around the frame or matting some of the shells we found this year.

Jenn, I did this with Agnes and Theresa when they were small and, to this day, it is still one of my favorite projects they ever made. I remember Theresa's looked like a complete mess when she clumped all the shells on it (she was 3), but when the glue dried, it was a masterpiece.
I will try to post a digital photo of the frames tomorrow, not to show you how we did them--that is self explanatory--but because I love those projects so!

I second Alice's spiritual bouquet idea. I forgot all about the ones we've done here for Daddy. We don't use stickers though, we usually use candy.

I think it was either regular Elmer's or Tacky Glue. (For some reason, I'm thinking regular Elmer's.)
We made these about 7 or 8 years ago, so I am not 100% sure! Of course, I forgot to take a photo today. Let's hope I remember tomorrow!

I had an idea in the car today. What about a homemade visor clip - using our ever popular friend, Sculpey. Form a little grotto like the ornaments you made last year, then Mod Podge in a picture or actually glue on a medal (4 Way, St. Christopher, or Guardian Angels) - then glue on a clip of some sort (I was thinking clothes pin). And if you didn't want it to be a clip it could just be one you hang from the rearview mirror. You could also do it on a small wooden shape like they sell at the craft store instead of the Sculpey shape. Your little guy could draw/scribble around the borders. And you could write on it something like, "Praying for safe travels for Daddy."
Just a thought.
