Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was feeling all domestic and soaked a big pot of beans on Tuesday, so 48 hours ago, but did not actually get around to cooking them. Are they salvageable?

I don't know. I don't think so as far as the beans getting too much water.. but water can go stagnant or musty or such if it sits too long. So I would go carefully but if it smelled fine I would probably go with that (but I don't know if that's the safest answer ).

I think that sometimes they will ferment or even sprout. If they don't smell bad, I would just rinse them well.

They, or the water, smelled so bad that I tossed them. But, I as I was doing so, I thought I should rinse them and go for it. Rats!

Cooking is not a strength, but I put another pot to soak overnight.

Thanks, ladies!

Erica, there's a reason that I don't soak the beans now. I know all the reasons.. but if I dump them in the electric roaster and start cooking them, the cook time is longer but I end up with cooked beans rather than forgetting to start the beans that are soaking. Or forgetting to start soaking the beans so I can start them.

I soaked a pot overnight. I popped on here for a quick distraction which is reminding me to go and cook. I am so lame.

I was thinking that maybe soaking longer would be helpful in that department, Stephanie! :)

I know Cash has cooked them without soaking, Jodie. I have to look more seriously into a roaster. I am always inspired by your posts about them.

Okay, getting up right now to turn on the heat. :)
