Please would you post a link or instructions for a simple winter hat for a lady - a hat like thisfor the shape, though the flower would not be easy.

Thanks so much. It is years since I crocheted and I want to make a gift which will not be too challenging.

The hat is not crochet. It's knit. You could get a similiar stitch look with Tunisian crochet, but most don't consider that a beginner crochet stitch.

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/give-it-a-whirl-hat is fun with self stripping yarn and is worked flat vs in the round.

I made this one too. Unforgettable is worked in the round. I did one in solid pink and made a flower for it. Flowers are easy. Really. Ravelry has lots of easy detailed patterns for them.
