Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Your discussion on dishwasher detergents brought me to asking what dish detergent you all use. I've used Dawn for ages; but, it seems to be less effective than it used to be. I've tried a few others recently and all were worse. I guess i am particularly talking about how it works on grease/oil. It's frustrating because I have this duty delegated to the boys and they don't get clean unless they add extra soap or sometimes even empty the water and refill the sink. Of course they know to wash the greasy stuff last and they do; but, it really takes a lot of soap...which is expensive. Any suggestions?

Jackie, we use Dawn Hand Renewal (since several family members have skin problems made worse from dish washing). I've noticed it seems to be doing a less effective job lately as well ~ not just when dc wash dishes, but when I do them too. I'm all ears for recommendations for a brand that cuts grease, spares the hands and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Are we expecting too much!?

Ok, I can TOTALLY help in this.

Only one brand has gotten me through the grease fight: Palmolive Oxy plus. It is a blue bottle and is AMAZING!!!!!

It gets the grease even off plastic containers.

LOVE IT!!!!!

Mimi, thank you SO much for the tip for using Palmolive Oxy plus. Finally got some this weekend and it is MUCH better than the brand we were using! Thanks again!

Thanks for the tip on this, hope to get some soon. I , too had noticed that the soap didn't seem to be doing as well, even with the concentrated Dawn, and was kinda at a loss. Grateful for the tip!
