I just posted at Wednesday in the World: Waffles a link to a SLIDESHOW and recipes for using waffles for dessert!
Now I ran across this...
Waffle BLT
which leads me to ask...
How do you enjoy your waffles? What are your favorite recipes?
Love,

We use a basic buttermilk waffle recipe out of the 1970-something Good Housekeeping Cookbook.
And I like them either with lots of butter and syrup or apricot jam instead of the syrup

I use a basic recipe from Betty Crocker cookbook - not very adventurous, I know... I must be some kind of waffle traditionalist.
Hey, do you prefer Belgian waffle iron or regular style? I prefer the regular.

Definately prefer regular.. but the waffle irons like that cost a good bit more.. so we have belgian waffle irons.. better than not making waffles at all.. and no way could I make enough for this crew without 3 waffle irons.. we had 1 belgian waffle iron we were given.. and we could get 2 more with the money we had but couldn't get 3 of the regular waffle irons.

Chocolate waffles has been a trademark dessert for us for years, always a hit. Since going wheat free, we started making them with cake mix (lots of extra eggs, beat the whites separately and fold in, milk instead of water). Very yummy. We've branched out and for a birthday brunch or holiday, I've made them from vanilla cake mix and served with a brown sugar topping and white icing as for cinnamon rolls.
We bought a barnyard waffle iron on sale for our first Christmas or anniversary or something. It is fun. We've often joked about getting one of those flippy kind like they have in hotels, which they've actually sold at Costco in the past. We are probably approaching a need for a second maker.

We just use a run of the mill waffle recipe, using a regular waffle maker. I keep waffles warm in the oven until I make enough for everyone to be able to eat together. I cover the pan, which keeps the waffles warm, but they tend to steam a little, so they definitely aren't crisp, but they would be great for wrapping around sausage links for pigs-in-a-quilt! We like to eat leftover waffles cold as a snack ~ they're great spread with PB or Nutella and homemade blackberry jelly! We love breakfast foods any time of day or night!

Back when I ate wheat, I just loved waffles with lots of butter in all the holes and sprinkled with powdered sugar. I never was a syrup girl.
Now the day my husband and I were at the cardiologist to hear the startling news, we went to lunch at Ozzie's which had a flourless chocolate waffle with ice cream with dessert. Delicious! I'd love to find that recipe!

I had to replace my Foreman grill last year, and the new one came with removable waffle iron plates! I was thrilled. They can go right in the dishwasher , and I could give away my waffle iron, which was pretty small and difficult to clean.
I'm a pecan waffle loving lady

my regular waffle batter is pretty basic:
1 cup flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 egg white, beaten stiff with 1 tablespoon sugar and pinch salt
2 more pinches salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons oil or melted butter
enough milk to make a thickish batter, about 3/4 cup
the above makes about 3 belgian waffles. i like them with any fruit-syrup. fruit mashed/pureed, cooked down a bit, then mixed with some maple syrup.
i also like my waffles with salty cheese, like cheddar.
and then i've got allergen-free waffles here:

Thanks for sharing, Stef. I might have to stop by the healthfood store this afternoon. I'm egg and dairy free (in addition to gluten) right now for the baby, and breakfast has been pretty meh.
