I really enjoyed reading about everyone's frugal finds last week!
I truly do find it helps me stay focused when I read about how others are being thrifty.
This week, I was very happy with the Marshmallow Shooter Book
I bought from the Amazon Bargain bin. I paid under $5, and I was very happily surprised at what a great book this is. It is a big book- hard cover and spiral bound, with tons of fun ideas and pictures. It made an excellent gift for a birthday party this week. I think the price has gone up now to $5.50- but that is stilll a good deal.
Another frugal gift I have been making is pillowcases from this tutorial. If you can sew straight seams, you can make these!
They sew up quickly and turn out very cute- I am pleased with the ones I have made so far. I made one for my dd out of the state fabric from Hobby Lobby and one for ds with fishing fabric as part of their back to school supplies.

Some time ago, we bought a Melamine bowl set from Costco that had one very large green bowl with a lid and six smaller bowls in red, yellow, and green. Sort of Tuscan colors. I love these bowls, and I told dh just this week that if we saw them again, we needed to get another set. Pretty sure I've seen them at BJs in the past as well.
Well, we paid $20, and now they are there again and reduced to $9 something, so we bought two more sets. They make great mixing bowls, and the lid is perfect for making large batches or for things like doing the prep work for lots of veggies when entertaining. The smaller bowls are the "cereal bowl" shape and size, and they are a heavier melamine than the standard kiddie sets. Plus they are pretty.
I love ceramic mixing bowls, but they are expensive, and my boys have broken my bigger ones more than once, so having a sturdy, large sized alternative is great. They stack inside each other, too, so storage of more than one isn't so bad.
Somehow the melamine seems a nice alternative to plastic to me. These are made in China , which probably contributes to the great price, but I have not seen the standard melamine mixing bowls readily available in this generous size!

Ohh- that was a nice find, Lindsay. I have some plastic mixing bowls that could use replacing, and I would like to have something nonbreakable that is also pretty.
My mom is also a mixing bowl junkie, so this might be a fun gift for her-especially since I never know what to buy her for Christmas, etc.
If I can get to Costco this weekend, I will look for them!

A friend told me about One Hundred Free Books, which has daily free e-books for your Kindle (or computer, or phone, because you can download free Kindle e-reading software from Amazon). I found a couple of books to download this week. All free!
Tip: Quite a few of the books are of the romance variety (I have not read any of them, BTW), with covers of said variety, so you never know when you'll see a kissing couple book cover. Or a vampire, or drops of blood...so I suggest checking out the site when young children aren't around.
Tip #2: The books are free when they are listed, but their availability for zero cost is limited. Be sure the book is still free before you dowload it.

My dh let me know about a website called camelcamelcamel.
It is a price tracking site for Amazon- you can sign up to watch certain items and then be notified when the price drops into your desired range.
I thought that pretty handy
And free books are always good

Well we went to the thrift stores in town yesterday for my oldest daughter. She needed pants for this coming winter.. her's were getting tight, we did find that I had 1 pair of jeans and 2 pair of corduroy pants that will fit her for winter. So while we went mainly for pants.. we found her 3 tops, a church skirt, a pair of the lighter straight leg jeans, a pair of shorts, and a pair of capri's (no sure on those but it was a bag sale so I tucked them in anyway) a whole handful of belts for the older girls to share, 2 tops for me, a fleece vest for me and one for my little girl and one for the little girl to grow into (her size and the next one up didn't have any girl colors) and a pair of little boy's snow boots that looked new. All for just over $30.
I still want to find my oldest one more pair of regular jeans, and a new winter coat for the (almost) 3 yr old. I need boys' jeans in 10's and maybe 8's and I need to be able to get to the snow boots and gloves/hats and check that everyone has something for this winter.

Great finds Jodie!!
Love the pillowcases- that is going on my Christmas gift making list (much quicker than the knitting I always try to cram in).
My frugal find was in the clearance bin at Safeway- tubs of Astro full fat plain yogurt on 50%off. I find it regularly with a few days still to go on its date. With four kids we have an easy time finishing it off quickly, and even though I make yogurt, we run out alot.

Today and tomorrow JoAnne's Fabric has free shipping, no minimum order.
They also have 50% select holiday prints, which make them only $3.49 a yard. They would make some cute pillow cases! (but I don't know if they ship to Canada, Kristie)

We saved gas by thrifting on the way to Mass for the Feast of the Assumption! Found a lovely Martha Stewart fabric tablecloth for $1.99. A copy of the Navarre Bible for Revelation for $1 and a beautiful old Catholic Cathedral Reader for $2 at the library bookstore! I'm particularly excited about the Revelation Navarre Bible/Commentary since youngest ds will be studying Revelation in depth his senior year ~ we already have one copy of the book, but it will be all the nicer for him to use a copy of his very own!
Another ds found all his college text books on amazon, for quite a bit less than the college bookstore yesterday. Just plugged in ISBN numbers to search ~ bingo ~ easy as pie!
Picked the last of our free blackberries this week and finished freezing free summer squash, with peppers and onion, for meatless zucchini stew this winter.
So grateful for the endless ways God provides!!!!

I'm pretty sure my mom and I got the "1st prize find" today! We picked up a Pendelton 100% wool, twin size blanket for $2. New they're $118.
But I also found the last pair of jeans my oldest daughter needed.. $5 but I was able to figure out what would fit her without her there and it did!

ACK! Check the ad, Martha- I think the sale on the holiday prints is only on line. The prints were only 25% off in the store on Monday, so I was surprised to see the sale via e-mail this morning.

My frugal thrill today was picking up Downton Abbey, The Complete Script, Season One at the library.
It has the entire script, plus tons of commentary by Julian Fellowes that explains what he was thinking and why he did certain things. Also, he has included all the scenes that were cut or deleted.
There are lots of little extras and details in here that are fun to read... and it was free. Gotta love the library

I went garage sale shopping today and I found lots of clothes for my oldest for next summer; shorts, shirts, and a jacket for dh; and a winter coat that may fit my oldest. All in good shape and nice brands for $40. It's rare to hit a good sale so I was quite pleased today!
