I have been trying lately to cut way back on the amount of e-mail I receive.

At most sites I have been able to successfully unsubscribe. At others- no luck. The e-mail keeps coming.

Is there some trick to being able to unsubscribe, other than starting over with a new e-mail address?

A lot of places make you give an e-mail address and put you on the list if you place an order with them. Ok- fair is fair. But then not being able to go back later and unsubscribe is .

Yeah. It is tricky because, if I actually want to order something, I want to give them my main e-mail. I do, however, have a separate "sign up to use this site" e-mail adress that gets most of my junk mail.

I use gmail, and create filters to put things like that directly into the trash. I also do that with coupon mailings that I might want occasionally, but not often. So, for example, all my Jo-Ann Fabric emails go right into the trash folder, but if I'm planning to go there, I can always dig out the most recent one.

I've had a few problems with a couple of site that won't unsubscribe me from there list. AOL has spam controls that you can block certain emails from sending you emails. I use that when I can't get off a list.

I've had the same email for 13 years now. Recently I stopped receiving emails from a few of my favorite companys. I get an email when I order, but none of the newsletter and sale announcements. I've contacted these them and ask for help to get back on their list and they won't help me! They say I'm on their list and getting emails or that I need to resign up (which I have done) and it still doesn't work. I'm considering changing my email now.

I have had that problem with Lands End- I go on and off their list without warning- they can't explain it and can offer no help .

It's annoying, since I like to know when they have their 30% off sales.
