Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What is your favorite? I am having such problems with build up in my machine- I have been advised to use powder but I REALLY want to make my own instead with Borax and washing soda and a bar of castille soap! So this is a sort of a double question: Do you use homemade soap in your HE machine and how does your machine handle it?

I love, love, love Biokleen premium powder. I have hard water and have to use a tiny bit more than recommended but it really cleans my clothes well and makes my life easier-less stain attention than any other soaps I have used. And if I do have a stain their Bac Out stain remover liquid usually does the job.

We have had our front loader for just under a year. I've only used liquid HE detergent. I use All Free and Clear now and it does a good job. I like that it doesn't have perfumes/etc and is still relatively inexpensive.

What do you mean by "build up?" Inside the washer or in the detergent cup? I have added Borax to my wash along with the liquid detergent...can't remember how I did it. I guess I put it in the bleach cup. The powder seemed to wash out without a problem, but then that's not the same as using powder only.

My machine is just a dud! It has been more work than all of my other appliances put together- and it was the only one we bought new

We get all sorts of black spots etc. on the gasket- have replaced it, cleaned it, bleached it etc. I have been told to avoid liquid detergents like the plague because of the sudsing- but that guy told me to buy Percil which is SOOOOOOOO expensive!

A recipe of castille soap with washing soda and borax should work in an HE machine - everyone I've had test what I sell on my website have had no problems - and one of those testers is someone who works on washing machines at a large-scale cleaning company (he heads up the laundry detergent/soap testing department - though he did NOT use work hours or equipment to test my stuff :) ).

I use Charlie's Soap and I love it. When I first started using it, I remember reading on the package or web page that you should run an empty load with Charlie's Soap to get rid of build up. I never did that, but I haven't had any problem with build up and I love that it doesn't have any perfumes in it and it works really well.
