Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've spent WAY too much time looking for an option.

I'm trying to write up my family recipes to give as a gift -- a family cookbook, especially the ones from our grandmothers.

I was going to use Word, and I am pretty good at formatting and such. I thought I would find a free template, and haven't found a suitable one. The ones on the Microsoft Online templates are really limited.

I am only thinking simple, but wondering if anyone has done this and can share their experience?

I did have them many recipes typed on MasterCook, but it was an old version, on my old computer, and not compatible with what I have...in short, I have to start again.

Ugh, I had Mastercook, too, which I really liked. When we had a hard drive die I lost all of my recipes that were typed out. I've been too lazy to look for another method.

I wanted somewhere to put my recipes online but also have access to print them. I found RecipeThing to be simple and work well. I really like that I can search for my Cooking Light favorites on the web and just copy them in. Also, you can download your recipe box to a file on your computer. I wish I had more time to put things in there. I do like e-mailing myself recipes I am going to use during the week and I cook from my ipad in the kitchen and just delete when I am done. No more papers floating around!! And the recipe is still in the database. I do keep favorites and recipes I use often in a binder in page protectors in the kitchen, things like breads and muffins and pizza dough.
Also, when I was searching people mentioned Google templates? Somewhere on Google that people share worksheets and things to make life easier.
You'll find something that works for you, I was amazed at all the options when I did my research.

I looked for a while and didn't ever find anything I loved enough to put the time into it. I ended up just printing out recipes from online, copying those from magazines, and adding handwritten notecards for family recipes onto individual pieces of paper and inserting in page protectors.

I would love to find something beautiful and time/cost effective.

Jennifer,

I don't have a free option, but I love this idea.
cooking on cloverlane cookbook I believe she used Blurb to make hers.

PaperCoterie also has a cookbook option.

I am slowly working on typing up my recipes then I will probably print them on Blurb.
