Anybody use Swiffer products?
Are they any good at all? I need something for quick daily clean-ups between the deep cleans and despite the fact that I hate their commercials, the products sound like just the ticket. I am thinking of the sweeper and the mop-like wipes (I forget what they are called).
Any feedback?

I used to use Swiffer stuff a lot when I had cats. But I hated having to use and toss so many refills. So I started using the swiffer sweeper with a soft fluffy microfiber. That worked great until my boys broke it arguing over who got to sweep the floor.!

That's too funny. Mine broke the same way! My boys loved helping sweep with it.

I still have the little cloth pads that go on the sweeper. They are *GREAT* at picking up hair and dust! Especially if you hold the cloth in your hand, get on all fours and "sweep" around the toilets.       Lots of hair and dust (and other things if it's a boy bathroom...)

I've never tried the mop.

I have used their products since 2004. I "mop" my laminate floor with the wet pads (not the sprayer thing...I used that on linoleum in my last house, which worked great). It's not the perfect solution but for our busy family it works very well.

The Swiffer duster is awesome. My MIL cleans houses for friends (amazing...she is 77!) and swears by it, and we have been very glad we took her advice.

Well, I'm convinced. Hopefully I can do something about my little dust bunny problem.

I broke down and bought the spray/vac one. At the least, it allows me to mop more often than I used to, and that has to be good!

I use old tube socks on the dry swiffer (mine is actually 11years old and held together with Duct tape!)and just moisten them to do quick wipes or dusts!

I have a Swiffer-type (not sure of brand) sweeper but have never used the disposable things on it. I've always used microfiber towels (buy them cheap in the auto dept at Target, etc). We sweep the kitchen and baths with a regular broom first to pick up paper scraps, etc. then go over with sweeper to get all the pet hair (3 cats and 2 dogs) often. I also use those same cloths as dustcloths everywhere, so i have tons of them.

haven't used any of the wet swiffer products.

I started using them after years of not when I was selling my house. I think the key to their being effective is a habit of using them regularly, like daily. If your bunnies get big, you can go through a bunch of the wipes pretty rapidly.

The wet wipes are good (I wish I could find unscented, but Costco has excellent prices and they're smelly, lol), and again, I think they are very effective if used daily. Once your floor gets grungy, it takes more of them and you're probably better off mopping.

I've put a microfiber towel on it and used it like a mop, and it does work well (if you've ever read Organic Housekeeping, I've used it like she uses a "dutch broom" to mop her floors, switching out the cloths so you never put a dirty one back in the water).

I agree about the microfiber mop. I got one at Lowe's for like $13 and it works just as well as my Swiffer without the expense of buying all of the refills. It bends too so I can dust the floorboards. I still wouldn't eat off of my floor, but at least it is presentable!

I had the same experience with Swiffer, used it, broke it, got tired of refills...now we use the cotton washable cover, instead of the swiffer, and it works well. for dusting i still prefer wet cloths with some oil wood cleaner, and i make my children chime in with that once a week.

I love Swiffer stuff.

DH hates the wet swiffer residue that gets left on the tile floor. I don't notice it.

I went through two wet jets a few years ago - I loved the ease of use, but they just didn't hold up to our heavy use here. I was also super frustrated with the cost of the swiffer spray and that I could not refill it with what I wanted to use. Then I found the Libman Freedom Spray Mop and I LOVE it! I can use what I want to use on my floor, and NO batteries! :)

Yes, I noticed that, and didn't like it. I also thought the scent was overpowering...couldn't stand it. After using it for a while I gave it up. I felt like I was just moving the dirt around and not really cleaning, or I would have to use many, many pads before it actually came out clean to my satisfaction.

The scent of the wet mops is pretty overpowering, but I love how it lets me clean up around the toilet every day or two instead of the once a week deep cleaning it was getting.

We love the Libman Freedommop here too! I never would have bought it because I did not like the swiffers, but it was a blog contest prize Now we use it all the time. Great for making the kitchen look nice with just a few minutes. We have multiple allergies, so the ability to fill it with what ever I want is a bug plus!
