Anyone have any experience with Wildtree products and/or grapeseed oil? I've read some conflicting things about the oil.

My sil really loves these products. Anyone else ever use them?

Kacky

I've just started using grapeseed oil for baking but to be honest didn't do any research first I'd love to know more about your research.

Well I found this Blogpost from Kitchen Stewardshp that has it on a "eat less of"list. when compared to what Wild Tree has to say, it is conflicting. Of course one is Ellington a product and the other isn't.

Interesting read KackyK. I remember picking up some grapeseed oil from one of the vineyards we visited several years ago. I enjoyed it but after we were done with the bottle I haven't purchased it again (it seemed like a "luxury" ).

From Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Balch

Quote:
of all the many natural souces of essential fatty acids, grape seed oil is among the highest in linoleic acid and among the lowest in saturated fats. It contains no cholesterol and no sodium. It has a light nutty taste that brings out the flavor in many foods. Unlike most other oils, it can be heated to temperatures as high as 485*F without producing dangerous and possibly carcinogenic free radicals. These features make it good for use in cooking. Buy only grape see oil that is cold-pressed and contains no preservatives

Obviously I needed to do more research, I bought grapeseed oil because that is what the recipes were calling for in our new cookbook. However reading your link I discover it is on the Omega 6 list and we were attempting to only eat Omega 3 oils, as recommended in this book.
Actually we've been using Extra Light Olive Oil for baking and frying and been very happy with results.

Kacky,
What was your reason for researching oils?
