Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Mine lasted until today.

It was over 15 years old...

I need to replace it ASAP.

If you have a bread machine you like, please recommend it and tell me how long you've had it. We use ours quite often, so I'm really looking for durability.

Thanks!

My Welbilt that looked like R2D2 and made cylindrical loaves lasted about 15 years. I still miss that machine, just because. We got a spare at Goodwill for $5, for parts, and repaired it ourselves once.
Next I bought a Breadman--it lasted about 5-6. I liked it fine, too.
I invested in a Zojirushi about 5 years ago and now that I "know" it, I love it. It took about 2 years to learn how to get it to do what I wanted it to do. I now have it programmed for my breads and it is working well.

I don't have a bread machine.. but that is the one I've heard really good things about.

I have this Zojirushi Bread Machine...this is the newest model of this machine. It's a fantastic bread machine if you use one a lot! I got it in 2005 and it has been a workhorse on my counter with a whole grain loaf in it almost every day since the day we purchased it. That's a lot of bread and work out of this machine! I make pizza doughs, other sweet doughs, fancier breads...but mostly the daily bread for the family.

I chose this machine because it made a horizontal 2 pound loaf, rather than baking upwards as other machines do, because it has double paddles to better handle 100% whole wheat dough, and because it has a programmable cooking cycle which is pretty key to be able to customize a recipe/cooking cycle to optimize rising time on whole wheat loaves of bread. We've never had a problem with this machine, have had good experiences with Zojirushi customer service, and if mine died tomorrow, I'd buy another Zojirushi the next day!!!

Have fun bread machine shopping!!!

I have a Breadman and like it fine. I only do the dough setting for most breads, and only make bread about once or twice a week. I have had this machine for 12 years.

Mine died two days ago after 14 years. Dh picked up a Cuisinart at Costco for a really good price. It has good reviews on Amazon and has so many more features and settings than our old one. We haven't used it yet. Pizza dough tomorrow night will be our first experiment. I will let you know how it goes. :-)

We have had the same Zojirushi for 14 years now and it works just like the day it was bought. My mother purchased it back when I was starting 8th grade, but she gave it to me a few years ago. It can make bread, pizza dough and jam.

I do find myself baking bread without it sometimes, but that is mainly because I like to bake two loaves at once. Bread is eaten so quickly around here!

There's a funny ending to this story. I posted on my Facebook page how sad I was to say goodbye to my old Oster...and a friend offered me her seldom-used Panasonic for free!

I haven't tried it yet, but she even dug up the owner's manual for me!

I have the same machine as Jen does. I'm glad someone offered theirs to you -- I was going to do that for you, so that we could meet up some way!

Mine hasn't been used since my son was diagnosed with wheat allergies 6 years ago, but I used it often, especially for the holiday baking. It was useful even for the first few steps of mixing and rising before I had to shape the speciality breads for Christmas and Easter.

I keep waiting to get a "all-clear", allergies outgrown signal. Will I want a newer model when I can get back to baking? Since we avoid egg and dairy in addition to wheat, allergy bread baking just doesn't make a nice bread since I have to do so many substitutes. So it sits in a box in my pantry.

All right, enough about me. But the timing was just funny because I JUST was thinking all about this.
