Look what my husband built for our boys who live in a very small room.
I am so thrilled and the kids love it...
Just wanted to share in case any of you may be inspired with space saving issues... and have a relatively handy person around.

Good use of space. The bunks look rock solid!
Do you little ones know not to sit up straight in bed? With a triple bunk stacked like that, bumping heads would be my only fear for them.
What a blessing to have a dh who can build.

They don't really sit up in bed. They know these beds are for sleeping! The great thing is that this cures the jumping on the bed problems!
Dh is still going to add a ladder. Right now the boys climb up the end. We took off that top rung at the end for more ceiling clearance while ds climbs in.
Also, I wouldn't recommend a triple bunk until you have a child old enough to change his own sheets on top!
We got the plans online:
http://bunkbedsunlimited.com/Triple-Bunk-Bed-Plans.htm
And you don't need a ton of skills to do it! Just some cutting, measuring, drilling, sanding... (lots of sanding; that was the most labor intensive part)
We spent about $165 on lumber and hardware to build these and one weekend of labor.
I'm going to get my woodburner kit out to do some decorative work on the boards...

They look fantastic! (Is that the ladder in the back corner? ) Your Dh did a great job. Having a handy husband is definitely handy. (I'd be lost without mine!)
You guys did a good job on those kids too...very cute! Your little guy looks extremely pleased with himself!
