Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Oh, we're enjoying tremendous (albeit windy) weather today. Lots of gardening; dh is building flower boxes on my deck so that I can attract more hummingbirds; we're setting up a bird feeder (trial since we fight squirrel so much).

We took a break to be a part of the blessing of the new bells for our new church. So cool that we'll get to hear angelus bells here! I can't wait!

But oy! the pollen is really aggravating me!

Anyway with all this busyness, dh is treating me to take-out dinner of some kind.

And tomorrow our godson (and nephew) receives his First Communion, so a family party is on the agenda for our main meal.

What are your plans?

I've got a chicken bubbling away in the crock pot for tonight. I'll save the lovely broth and scraps for chicken and dumplings on monday.
Tomorrow will be flank steak on the grill and baked potatoes.
Plans? Well, dh and ds are helping a neighbor move this weekend, the 3 littles are happily playing outside in the gorgeous sunshine with their new bug catchers and bubble machine, and I am shopping online for books about Greece and Rome as per ds's request for next year.
So, it's all good!

A friend is coming over for dinner (chicken/spinach/feta sausages on the grill). It will be nice to see him.

Tomorrow we will eat lunch out somewhere and spend the afternoon together, hopefully outdoors at least part of the time. We may have do-it-yourself or crockpot dinner since I don't know exactly what our schedule will be.

After a day of errands and chores, tonight's dinner was steaks, spinach, polenta with goat cheese, and fresh strawberries.

On the agenda for tomorrow: Mass, a nap, plenty of cuddling with my newborn, and probably the very same dinner as tonight--I have extra steaks in the fridge, and it was just too yummy!

After going to a FHC this morning, the 5th of the year with 2 more to go, we had a lovely Cuban lunch of masitas de puerco (fried pork chunks) moros (blackbeans and rice mixture) and platanitos maduros (sweet plantains).

Then we went to dinner with my dad to celebrate Mother's day and had another wonderful Cuban meal. This time bistec empanizado (breaded flank steak) with rice and black beans and tostones (plantains fried and squashed)

Tomorrow Chinese with my Mom for lunch and then Churrasco (no clue how to translate maybe stefoodie will know) and baked potatoes for dinner cooked by hubby.

In other words NO COOKING ALL WEEKEND!!!!!!!!
