Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We've done pretty well paring our grocery shopping down to once a month for quite some time now. This winter I was out of commission for awhile, so for a few months now we've taken advantage of a great online feature from Sam's Club called "Click-n-Pull". It has been such a HUGE benefit that we're considering continuing to use it for most of our monthly grocery shopping. I keep a running saved list on their website of the regular grocery items that we tend to buy, simply pull those from the list into the shopping cart, then add the day and time we want to pick it up. On the designated day dh picks up the assembled order (neatly boxed and ready) at the courtesy desk, taking only about 5-10 minutes max. to pick up a month's worth of groceries! Can't beat it! We've actually been spending less for monthly groceries than we had in prior months. No more traipsing through the store with two or three carts. I may never enter a grocery store again! Okay, that's not likely, but it has been awfully nice to be spared the monthly grocery marathon lately AND to have a loving dh who's willing to pick up the big haul on his way home from work. This might be very helpful for ladies who are expecting or those with a houseful of sick little ones. Thought I'd pass this along in case anyone else can benefit from this great service. This has been the closest thing to having groceries delivered to the door!

oh that would be NICE.

The pregnancy that I was most sick for.. we happen to live where I could get groceries delivered. And while mostly I managed without it.. the one time I splurged and paid for it.. it was so wonderful I almost cried.. simply because the groceries came to my door when I felt so very bad and dh was out of town and I had no one to lend a hand and 2 toddler that had to go with me everywhere.

Jodie, I once had a friend who actually figured the $$$ costs of leaving the house for groceries, etc.....if you factor in the costs of gas, possible meal or snacks while you're out, etc. etc. etc. delivery costs don't seem all that extravagant! How wonderful that you had it available when you needed it most. I've been thanking God (and the kind people at our local Sam's) all throughout this season of need.

Servant, we used to do that but I haven't renewed our membership yet.

Have you noticed that sometimes your items are no longer available, or the price has changed? That happened frequently with toilet paper, dish and laundry soap, and frozen foods.

Paula, we haven't noticed that happening, so far, but we haven't been doing this very long either! They recently changed their website; it seems like they may be better at updating information, such as availability and prices, but I haven't been tracking those things very carefully, since we haven't run into any problems yet and I only do a Click-n-Pull once a month. We only purchased TP once. We've been getting TP and other paper products free when several local pharmacies ran special promotions throughout the Winter and Spring. Since we already have to get monthly prescriptions we were able to take advantage of the pharmacy promotions and received several $10 or $25 gift cards that we used for TP, paper products, cleaning supplies or hygiene products. Each of the pharmacies are on dh's way home from work so he simply picks them up after I call them in. I guess when our stock of free items runs out we'll see whether Sam's has any problems keeping such things in stock or changing prices.

At this point, I figure we've already saved enough on gas to justify the $40 membership, since it always costs $10 or more every time I go to the nearest city for groceries! The Sam's in the city where dh works is right next to the credit union where he does our banking, so we're definitely saving gas that way and since the price of gas at Sam's is usually 5-10 cents cheaper per gallon dh also fills up when he's there. It's been very economical for us, at least so far. In case you're wondering, I don't even have family members working for Sam's or stock in their company either! ....just incredibly grateful for the blessing of not having to shop during a difficult season in life!
