Ok, I'll embarass myself and say we have an issue here. We have three bathrooms. One has a clawfoot tub with no shower, and that's the "tub bathroom", the one the littles and anyone else who wants one uses for actual baths. That gets scrubbed all the time and is in good shape. The other two are regular fiberglass-type bathtubs with showers and are used just for showers. I've been less great about keeping up with those.  Oh, they get scrubbed, but they accumulate soap scum more easily it seems than whatever the clawfoot tub is made out of, they have these weird textured bottoms that are getting stained, and I haven't actually bothered to scrub down the shower walls well in too long, especially, and they are getting pretty badly soap-scummed. I went in there to scrub with my usual baking soda stuff, and it's just not cutting it. I broke out some comet as well, still not working very well. I'm using a plastic scrubby to do the actual scrubbing. Any other ideas? I'm willing to buy some high powered, high toxic cleaner to use for this occassion,  , but since it's not likely to get used again anytime soon, I thought I'd get some recommendations of what to try so I don't waste a bunch of money buying several things to find something that works. Any ideas?

I go here to check for answers to cleaning issues and I see Mr. Clean Magic Erasers are recommended for bathroom cleaning. I would have never thought they would work. I try to stick with natural stuff since my kids help with the cleaning around here, but we get rust stains in our bathrooms that the baking soda/vinegar just doesn't cut. I hate the alternative which is the group of nasty chemical's out there but Magic Erasers might do the trick without all the fumes.

And once they are clean.. you might consider looking at what someone posted here.. use turtle wax (a car wax) on the walls and sides of the tub/showers (not where you walk) so that they're easier to wipe down.

I love how this keeps coming up.
Use whatever it takes to get it off. And then...
If you have glass walls/tub surround, use rainx. FOr the tub itself, use the turtlewax from the top edge down the sides, to the very bottom--but don't do the bottom!!!
(Sorry I don't have a great idea for the bottom, but it is just one of those things you are going to have to deal with it on your own...lol).

Goo Gone works well on fiberglass soap scum. I don't have fiberglass but my mom does and swears by Goo Gone for it.

I use Shaklee's Scour Off. I wouldn't endorse all of their products (not real happy with the dishwasher detergent), but this stuff is great! Still requires a good bit of elbow grease, but I will sometimes convince my husband to do the tub by flattering his superior strength, and he loves this product, too.
