Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. I'd like to save our booklets and perhaps some of the pictures from our Lego boxes. My nephew was able to help us with his old instructions of a Star Wars x fighter because he had laminated and saved all his old instructions. laminating is a bit much, but does anyone do this with their old Lego instructions?

Any suggestions? Hints? Thanks!

Why have I never thought of this? For all of the Lego, Bionicle, Tinker Toy and Lincoln Log instructions?

That was my exact thought! After a quarter of a century of Lego-maniacs here, you would think I would have a clue! It took me about 12 years to figure out to use a sheet to spread the Legos on so that pick-up didn't have to be done piecemeal with a dustpan ...sometimes I have to wonder: "Now what was the point of higher education?"

OH thank you thank you. Our instruction pages were getting overwhelming for me!
Ah. I love page protectors!

Jenn, we saved all of our Lego instructions. It was such an aid. Now, keeping the Lego organized, that is another story...

I use page protectors for all this stuff too. We have one big notebook with all game instructions, booklets, designs, etc. Or sometimes they are WITH the item they belong to, depending on if they fit, how many, etc.

I love page protectors ALMOST as much as I love my label maker!

I regret not using page protectors. My oldest has a massive collection of legos, including some very expensive sets. We have no idea how to re-assemble the sets for his two much younger brothers because the instructions are gone. Very frustrating.

Books, we have this problem, too! I just googled "lego instructions" (I've been meaning to do this for a while, this thread gave me a little incentive). It looks as if there are several different sites, some with free instructions. I think you'd have to do a little searching to find the ones you are looking for, but I bet you could find them. One site has a complete library (I think they charge a fee, though). Others just have a selection, but are free. Happy googling!

Just FYI, you can get a .pdf document of most sets (2002 to present, I think) from Lego at http://us.service.lego.com/en-US/BuildingInstructions/defaul t.aspx. We've definitely used this service

Hope that helps,
Christine

We've been keeping the sets in their own ziptop bag with the instructions with them and they typically build them on cookie sheets.

Thanks, Jodie. That was exactly what I was thinking of doing.

I had been keeping sets separate in ziploc bags, but it seems that the instructions and sets are just getting melded together. I was keeping the bags and loose pieces in a big container, also. The instructions end up on the floor in a heap. I'm glad someone mentioned that the binder works for them...we'll be doing this.

And of course, to do this with Knex, TinkerToy, Lincoln Logs, Playmobil....

I just figured this out for myself. I now have a binder with game instructions in the game closet. Very nice!!

Thanks again, Jodie. I grabbed all the instruction sheets and filled a 3-ring binder with them. My kids have had so much fun putting all their "contraptions" together!

For the actual lego we have our best org. system yet- we inverted an old wooden table top and dumped it all in. Fits 14 years and 3 boys worth of lego in in and it slips under the bunkbed at night.

We love this too. Then you don't always have to buy new sets.

But then it would be so fast to build something...wouldn't keep those little hands busy so long sorting through the mountain of lego Natalia
