I'm looking for favorite meals/recipes for the freezer,,,I'm starting my last trimester this month and I think I'd like to start making some double meals on more sane nights, one to have that night and one to freeze for later after the baby comes. Or, if I get enough put away, maybe some for those weary last couple of weeks. Any you'd like to share?

I make chicken soup for the freezer a lot. Then when I warm it up I add the noodles or rice to it. Chili is good in the freezer. We really like french toast casserole

Thanks, the chicken soup and chili is a good idea. Good comfort food too. My older kids don't like french toast. how weird are they?

pancakes can be made ahead and frozen though.. keep them light and then just pop them in the toaster.
lasagna is great
What's your weather going to be like when you'll want to be using these? chicken in a marinade and frozen so that they can just be thawed and tossed on the bbq can be nice, if you dh will be around to do some of the cooking.
Speghetti sauce is a good freezer meal.. just cook the noodles and heat the sauce.

The baby is due in April. Yeah, some marinated chicken to put on the grill or something could be good. With some easy sides. My dh doesn't cook *at all*, so except for the actual stuff on the grill...it'd need to be really easy.
I've got once a month cooking around here somewhere...it's pretty ragged, I used to use it a lot years ago. I need to dig that up and try to remember which ones we liked.

Had to laugh at this, Melanie--I usually go quite overdue (fifteen days with my first, eight days with my second), and I find that during that post-due date period I am usually doing a second round of freezer cooking because we've already used up what I've put away!
I actually cook ahead quite frequently. Here's what's on my usual list:
pasta sauce
enchiladas
tuscan bean and sausage soup
chili
mexican chicken
black bean soup
raw meatloaves
cooked onions (frozen in one-onion portions)
browned ground beef (in one-pound portions)
cooked chicken breast, diced (ready for casseroles)
steamed and chopped zucchini and carrots (for side dishes or soups)
banana breads, muffins, granola (for breakfasts/snacks)
cookies and fudge (for desserts )

Thanks for all the ideas! I'm going to start this week, I think just by making one to freeze/one to eat that night kind of thing a couple of times a week. I also got some recipes from savingdinner.com, they have a lot of freezer menus. Now, I'm going to try *really* hard to at least stay out of them until my due date! My last baby was 1 1/2 weeks late, and if I go late again, I fully give myself permission to go ahead and dive in when my due date comes. I think you deserve at least that much just for going over your due date.
