Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We have quite a collection of saint statues and other like items. How do you store them?

Love,

All ears here--I don't have a satisfactory way of storing these yet. Right now I have our seasonal statues in their original boxes or wrapped in tissue paper in our liturgical decorations bin, but I'd like a safer and more organized method.

I don't have more than I would want out at any one time. Our St. Joseph sits in the master bedroom. St. Nicholas is in the dining room right now (he's the only one that gets packed away with the Advent stuff). We have a Mary in the girls' room, a little Mary in the office, another Mary in the chapel along with St. Therese and that's it. I do have a collection of icons, but they hang on the wall year round. We also have eight or so religious pictures around the house that are always up. I generally don't buy more statues because they take up so much space--I'm more likely to buy a prayer card or icon. What would be ideal would be a buffet cabinet or sideboard. You could keep bins in there for the various seasons and the statues in their boxes behind closed doors.

Celeste, I'm glad it's not just me!

Thanks, LeeAnn. I had them in my dining room hutch - which has been replaced by a sideboard. So instead of being visible throught the glass hutch, I started putting them in the sideboard drawers...but that did see quite right either!

My larger statues have "homes" through out our home...its the smaller ones.

Maybe I don't want to store them, as much as find a nice way to display them. Still pondering...

Love,

I love statues! If I had the room I would collect statues and nativities.

My statues are just tucked around the house on shelves and dresser tops.

I would love some display cases for them. No room in this house, at least while it's full of children!

Angie aren't you the one with all those high shelves for books? could you make a smidge of space on those shelves and put the statues up there? maybe one or two per shelf? Maybe they could even sit in front of the books rather than needing their own space?

Ours are, well, primarily on our family room mantel (out of harms way of twin 2 1/2 yr old climbers ). We have a OL of Grace, St Joseph, the Infant of Prague, OL of Guadalupe, and a small statue of HH JPII. As well as our large prints of the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts. We also have a small statue of the Madonna and child on a small dresser in the family room, and one by the kitchen window (I also have an easel frame on the counter, with the Holy cards of my patron saints there...spend enough time by the sink, so I may as well have them close to hand).

The closest thing we get to statues in the other rooms of the house, are the crucifixes high up on the walls, and the many many pictures of religious things around the house.

all our seasonal table ietms , saints etc. are kept in a wooden pepsi crate under our school table , pretty sophisticated eh I do wrap ietms that are plater or shells etc. in paper or cloth so they don't get scuffed up .
