Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I had a really cute idea this past spring and thought I'd pass it along...my two neices live in another state and we rarely see them. Their parents are well off and can buy anything they need or want them to have, and we don't really know what they are into. Well, I was in Target last Easter and they had some Peter Rabbit doodads in the dollar spot bins...coloring books, pencils, notepads and such. I bought them up and put them away, and for Christmas this year I put them with a copy of Peter Rabbit and a Peter Rabbit stuffed animal. This is for the four year old. For the seven year old, I bought a copy of Miss Rumphius, and I put it with some kids gardening handtools and gloves I picked up cheaply over the summer, a packet of lupine seeds, a Dover wildflower coloring book and some colored pencils, and an amarylis bulb (so she can plant something now too!). I've had so much fun putting these together, because I love these books...anyway, I plan to continue with this each year for them I think. I'll need to brainstorm some more ideas, so let me know if you can think of any others!

This is an awesome idea thank you!! My sister is expecting her first baby in Feb. and my plan is (thinking ahead here!) is each birthday to give her a book...I love the idea of a themed gift basket to go aslong with the book!

I was going to start this type of thread and wanted to share what we did for our kids friends this year.

1. We made crazy crayons. These are the crayons that you melt in a pam with all those leftover crayons. Welllll I got this great idea and bought a sugar cookie pan with christmas shapes and melted them in there! The crayons came out great in wreath and bell and angel shapes. We placed these in cookie tins.

2. Then I went to Homeschool share and typed in Christmas in their search engine and came out with quite a few ideas. With those ideas in mind I went to the bookstore and bought Gingerbread Baby and Twelve Days of Christmas and Nutcracker Ballet.

3. I them came home and printed out activities for lapbooks for each of the books. We put the activities (with plenty of instructions and 2 folders each) in folders and Ta Da! A great gift.

Our nieces and nephews stay at my MIL over the Christmas holidays from school so this is a great activity that they can do together.
