Hello gracious Ladies,
This, aside from my introduction, is my first post (a little intimidating, given the incredible amount of information on this forum!). After diligently searching the ends of the internet, I thought I'd ask all of you for your favorite recipes using Mesquite Flour.
I've recently been introduced to it and am very EXCITED to use it! Most of what I know about it (very little) is that Mesquite Flour can easily be added to your favorite recipe by replacing (roughly) 2 Tbsp of the called-for flour, with Mesquite Flour, to enhance the *yummy* taste of your dish...whether it be cookies, bread, or pancakes.
I'm thinking of trying my ole stand-by bread recipe today, and see how it goes; but preferably, I'd like to follow a recipe (I only have a moderate sized bag of the Mesquite Flour, and it's NOT cheap ); so I'd like to make good use of it!
I hope I've posted in the appropriate place, else fogive my novice error!
Once again, I'm delighted to be amongst such Graced women.
Chris

I'm also new to the terms Mesquite and flour in the same phrase . Makes me thing of BBQ dinner rolls . I'd love to hear what others say.

Seems that Mesquite Flour is a bit out of the ordinary, huh? I was hoping for at least one recipe! But not to worry, I have a sneaking feeling that I might be coming into such a cook book that should help me out!
I will be sure to share my trials, and successes.
Blessings,
Chris

So, I was curious too and just wanted to post a link so folks would know what this is - it's the pods of the mesquite tree that are ground into a meal/flour. It does sound interesting and pretty health-ful according to that link. Do you get it at the health food stores?

I ordered mine from Shiloh Farms (shilohfarms.net). I started learning a bit about it a few weeks ago, then eventually ordered some. From what I've learned, it is quite good for you, high fiber and rich in antioxidants. I can just imagine how it might add flavor to foods! I'm thinking bread, but I was just reading the package and they mention adding it to soups, cookies, meat dishes, gravies, pancakes...just about anything I suppose. Interesting and unique!
Blessings,
Chris

Very interesting! I had always heard that mesquite beans were poisonous (at least to cattle.) Hmmm...
