Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Is there a good rule of thumb for recipe amount and crock pot size. I want to make a hash brown casserole for a cub scout potluck. 2lbs of hashbrowns 4qt vs 6 qt size.   I only have a 6 qt I have a fix and forget it cook book but I hate guessing which recipe will work in mine...plus I need to go shopping for ingredients tonight    Annie

I am not sure what you are asking?
If you only have a 6qt than that is what you have to use isn't it?

Annie, I just usually go by "if it fits I'll put it in"

My cub scout likes hash brown casserole!!

I usually do the fill it until full philosophy. I was just wondering if there is a rule of thumb about a 6qt using so much liquid or pounds of meat vs a 4qt. I usually look at seving size but that can be very subjective Stef I am doubling the recipe so I hope these cub scouts like it too!   In this case as soon as I saw 2lbs of hashbrowns I knew I could double it... oh, so true! especially with those growing boys you just can't tell sometimes. i don't know what to tell you -- when we prepare food for the scouts it's usually pot luck and there's always too much food so i don't worry about # of servings of serving sizes. sorry i'm not much help.

i hope someone else chimes in.

I don't use one much.. but I just got a 6 qt with a locking lid for Christmas.. and since it's not wrapped yet it says on the box 1 6 lb chicken or 2 3lb roasts.. don't know if that helps at all.

Kind of OT, but I'm going to be getting myself one of those 7 qt ones that Walmart has here...oldest dropped the insert for my used-6 times- 6qt crockpot, and it isn't something you can just go buy a new one of (I've checked).
