Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I would like to paint some wooden toy people, similar to these, for Christmas. I have searched the web to look for paint options and found this site, which mentions: acrylic, water colors, milk paint and food coloring.

::Does anyone have any first hand knowledge on any of these types of paint?

::How do you seal them (shellac, mineral oil, beeswax)?

::What size brushes do you use?

Thanks!!!!

Well, I'd use acrylics myself. Easy to use, water clean-up, non-toxic and inexpensive. You can use a water-based top-coat to seal it if you like. As for brushes, just use whatever size you need for the level of detail you want.

Theresa,
Thanks for responding. What I struggle with is feeling like you are doing something really awful if, for instance, you use acrylic paints. There are so many options, so many opinions!

I think that I will use acrylic paint with a food grade mineral oil sealer and a little beeswax over the top for good measure!
