Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My oldest dd and I are planning on trying to make some felt food items for the younger girls this Christmas. We hope to get some items together for them to have a "store".

I found some great patterns on etsy! The gal who made the patterns said acrylic would work too, but I thought before I went that route (due to $$ reasons) maybe I could swing the wool.

Where do you get yours at a good price and any advice working with wool felt vs acrylic?

I have created my own great felt stash with thrifted blankets and clothing items I felted. One blanket had the most wonderful squares of different colors on it and it has been made into some wonderful felted creatures.
I haven't tried dyeing anything yet...but it is on my mind!

I am trying to be creative on the cheap

I have been wanting some wool felt, too, after drooling over all the crafts at Wee Folk Art. I was excited to see some beautiful felt in the Magic Cabin catalog that just arrived, but it is way too $$$ for me! I'd also love to hear of a more reasonable source!

I got mine from Colonial Crafts. It is very reasonably priced with a lot of options of colors and charm packs.

My 9yo dd and I have been making felt food and creatures for a few months now. We find the fabric very forgiving and fun to work with...even with her uneven stitching..it is working out well for a first project..but with this child it is a first Magnum Opus. (she never does anything on a small scale. I think she will me a mom to many someday and God is grooming her for that...)
Do you need any links??

I have ordered from Wool Felt Central and been very pleased.

I don't believe that they offer a 100% wool felt...which is very expensive, but nice...however they offer a compromised between wool and acrylic, that I really like.

They also have nice bundles and offer the felt by the sheet and yard. This is particularly helpful for a project like food were you might only need a little of each color.

Another bonus is that they have a color card that matches DMC floss to their colors. If you have ever sat at one of the box stores trying to match DMC floss you realize that this is a God Send!!!!!

Also, I had another friend order from them and needed help coordinating colors. She called and they were VERY Helpful.

I hope this helps...but it has reminded me that I need to get an order in here soon to start some Christmas projects.

Betsy

P.S. They also offer a one timecoupon of 20% off through the blog Wee Folk Art
