I was reading in the Home Cleaning Products thread about Tea Tree Oil and got curious. It sounds like it is "the" product to own for many remedies. My poor 13 yo dd is suffering from acne. It sounds like tea tree oil is recommended for that. Has anyone tried it for acne? Also my 16 yo ds has developed nasty toenail fungus on one foot. Once again, I found tea tree oil is recommended for that also.
It also appears that not all oils are created equal. Where do you all purchase your tea tree oil from?
Thanks!

A few years ago when my toenails were brittle, breaking, and very ugly, my doctor clipped a piece and sent it off for testing. It came back as a fungal infection but he was not thrilled about the oral medication used to fight the infection, and I was nursing at the time. So, we were waiting to see how bad things got and trying to avoid this "nasty stuff."
We since moved. And I heard about tea tree oil and bought a small bottle at Whole Foods and started putting it on my nails a few times a week after my shower. It worked!! And since I have found a nail polish type tea tree oil and it really works.
Also, my dd has eczema and a drop or two in her bath seems to help keep it under control along with calendula soap and creams.
I don't know about the different types so am waiting to hear from those most knowledgeable.

We just buy a big bottle at our local health food store.
We use it for so many many things. My teens use it for their acne, we use it on warts, on eczema, in my laundry soap, in my spray cleanser, in the bath, in our soap, and more I am sure!

I use it to stop the itch of bug bites and eczema. Also, diluted with water to clean up accidents with potty training.

Tea tree oil is indeed useful (I use a couple of drops in my nappy wash if they're seeming a bit smelly—every couple of months, as well as in my spray cleaning bottles), but there is some need to be cautious of it's use on skin, as there are some allergy issues. (I can't find the info, but it was discussed on one of my nappy mailing lists, but after reading about it, I stopped including some in every nappy wash, and made it irregular).

This thread has some information about a Tea Tree soap. This was where I found out about Nature's Cure, which my dd used off and on for acne for a couple of years (ages 16-18) very successfully.
