Remember...I am so not a cook!

My mom taught me to cook bacon in a microwave. I do it until it is really small and very very crispy. That is done I know. But is there a point before it gets that way that it is done? (I'm laughing at my ignorance here!)

as long as nothing is pink (flesh toned) and juice runs clear ... we used to bake ours in a 350 oven, spread out on a rack over a cookie sheet to catch drips, for 15-30 min depending on amount and thickness ... this keeps the bacon in larger pieces, the fat is draining while cooking and you don't vaporize the grease into the air/onto the cabinets !

I cook bacon on our Gearoge Foreman grill. Different family memeber like it different degrees of crispy. My one sone likes it as soon as the strip gets translucent, another just this side of burnt

I cook my bacon lots of ways, but I cook it until it's crispy. PERIOD. I think I know what you are asking, but I think you have your answer.

-Grill pan, with a grill press on top. It has the ridges on it so sits above the grease, and I like to drain it periodically to keep it out. I also like it because it keeps the bacon big, since the press is on top.

-Microwave, with paper towels, and until crispy,but it seems to take so long, and never exactly how I like it.

-In the oven in my stoneware, on a sheet of parchment paper, at about 400 for about 20 minutes, or until there is no pink left.

What kind of bacon do you use? I find that thick cut works really well and is oh soo crispy when done right.

I am so glad I have a bacon recipe to use soon. I am all hungry now!

Bacon from the microwave never tastes as good to me. We have cooked it on a broiler pan in the oven and on the stovetop. Lately I've been cutting it in half so that it fits better in my round skillet.

not about safety but flavor and texture: Cook until crispy!

I know my bacon is done when the smoke alarm goes off.

I usually make mine in a skillet. We have an electric griddle that is very handy, but it is very messy to clean after making bacon. I think deciding when it is done is a bit of personal taste too. I have a friend who practically burns hers...that's the way they like it!
